Has anyone installed the G-2000 Girard awning on a MCI 4500 or D model,I made a deal on a G-2000 and G-1500 door awning.I would like to do the install my self to save 3000 bucks but I am kinda at a lost on how it mounts the instructions are not that great.
1 good thing I don't have to worry with a anemometer on the roof this one just has a sensor no holes in the roof.
Any photos or words of wisdom will be appreciated,I don't get why they use AC power either, why not DC so you don't need a inverter on all the time ?
I have two (21ft) on my bus (MCI9) and it was no fun given the roof curve. Fabricated a few pieces to make the mounting brackets work and secure. These suckers are very heavy and preparation for the lift took six guys. We tied the unit off and had two guys on the other side of the bus holding the unit in place while the awning was mounted to the brackets. If you have space above the windows that are flat then the mounting bracket application should be easier. Agree that the AC system is a paint in the butt! I carry two manual cranks as a safety back-up.
