Stupid question I am sure some of you will say but now I am at the part of learning things I have not done in 13/14 years as yet. I have a power steering pump, from (our great lost friend Sonnie Gray) I mounted and have all plumed up and now not sure after I get the power steering fluid really how to energize the entire system?
Do I fill the reservoir and wait on the engine rotation of the power steering pump to flow the fluid through the system and keep filling the reservoir as it flows through the new power steering tubing? I feel stupid asking but there was never a power steering system on my Eagle before and want to be sure I vent all the air out as I fill it per the instructions received here.
absolutely everything is done now for the engine, all connections completed, every hose replaced, every fuel line replaced new, painted up to look like a million bucks to me anyhow. Getting close to doing the outside painting, I HOPE. I am having a terrible time with the right side of neck, I have been diagnosed with severe spinal stenosis and not sure what will have to be done to help me out of the pain I have. I am quite sure that surgery is in the mix!!?? So I will continue with my dream of finishing my Eagle conversion at a much slower pace and to the best of my ability and hope I may get it completed. I am thinking positive here, but a secret prayer for me from friends sure won't hurt. I would hate the thought of not completing my project after going on 14 years now.
Thanks ahead of time for information on my power steering fluid filling. Don't forget to include where to vent the air on my power steering system as the system is filled.

Gary, the system should be self bleeding just fill it up start the engine and turn the wheels left to right several times then check it again.
If I remember yours is a Eaton roller pump not the Vickers vane type I sent Sonnie something for that pump but don't remember what lol

Gary, I can't help on the power steering front. However, I can tell you that a friend, in his mid-70's, had surgery to fix stenosis about 4 years ago. Since then, he's been to Europe twice, and China -- and going to Spain next year. Obviously, the surgery worked, and I hope yours goes as well.

Gary just replaced leaking oring in my vickers and what cliff said. Took several quarts and air will work out or it did on my prevost.
Best wishes for your health and for relief of your pain too. Maybe others can comment -- on my bus (very different in lots of ways from most here), it seemed to help to turn the wheel from stop to stop, but what really seemed to get air out quickest was to turn the wheel firmly until I could feel kind of a "hammering" in the wheel, then back the other way firmly. Doing this seemed to be the most effective. Have other people seen this??? Thanks, BH
