What is scary is the Teenie Weenie Bikini that hold that engine and trans in there, its like 4 small bolts..

1/2 inch Grade 8 cap screw strength is 150,000 psi. You could hang the bus by one with left over capacity for your trailer and kitchen sink. 6-92 doesn't weigh that much over a 6-71 so you haven't added that much weight. I've been told that those poles holding cradle ate filled with sand/silica gel or something similiar to keep from internal corrosion. A Flxible 30 foot city bus I dismantled had kerosene or light oil inside the front axle tube.
The roof hangers don't carry that much weight the bulkhead mounts carry most of the weight on a GM.They are scary looking. I only saw 1 rotten at the roof that the engine fell out of though it was a 4905A.GMs are a marvel to me engine setting cross ways,tilted and turning the wrong direction and they run down the road

The front edge of the cradle rests on the bulkhead engine mounts with a single bolt in each side.
The rear of the cradle is hung from above with one bolt each, so in this configuration 1/2 of the weight of the engine is transmitted into the rear ceiling.
On mine the bulkhead was stress cracked in a number of locations.
7 bulkhead bolts were sheared at the head and held on by paint.
The two ceiling supports were compromised where the aluminum surround was riveted to steel at the rear window.
I decided to 'F' the OEM mount and now all of the load is transmitted into two 2x6 A500 structural tubes and two 2x4 A500 structural tubes.
The ceiling mounts are tied to the structural tubes but the ceiling no longer has to cary the weight.
It is solid and it will stay that way!

Just to be pedantic, a 1/2" grade 8 bolt indeed is rated at 150Kpsi ultimate yield strength. It has a cross section area of 0.19625 square inches, and the strength in tension is considered to be 80% of ultimate, and the strength in shear is considered to be 60% of ultimate, so it would be able to support 23,550 lbs in tension and 17,660 lbs in shear. Until it gets stress risers from corrosion, or gets over torqued by an enthusiastic installer, or...

Im a big fan of pedantic, im not a big fan of riveting steel to aluminum and hanging a 4k diesel from it. ;D
So 18k in shear per side , wonder what the moment is of that engine going over a big pothole would be?
