Title: 4106 D window options
Post by: Darkspeed on October 24, 2015, 06:59:37 AM
What do people normally do with a D window replacement?

My OEM D windows are in bad shape and it looks like they were installed with an aluminum frame relying on an inner and outer gasket.

I heard the Motion Windows has a replacement.. Is it just glass + rubber seal like a windshield or does it have an aluminum frame also?

Contemplating installing a window blank and then installing an insulated motion window of the nearest available configuration into the blank.

Since they are flat glass, you may have one cut at a larger glass place. I recently purchased a driver's slider window from motion. The outer frame was aluminum and they supplied a rubber insert to install it. Afaik, they don't offer any insulated windows for GM's. If previous owner butchered opening to install framed windows (removed flange that holds window gasket), You might face an issue installing them. BTW, those Motion windows aren't cheap but are nicely made and supplied with quality mounting rubber gasket.

On our 4104. I had a glass shop cut new glass and used a universal windshield gasket to hold them in. Been in there for 12 years now with no problems
