Anyone know what the original emblem at the front-center (between the wipers) of the GM 4017 used to be?
I've been trying to scope out pictures online of original 4107s.
The problem is most pics are either profile shots or off-angle shots, so it's hard to see what was on there originally.
In some of the pics, it looks like GMC was the center emblem, while some other original stock photos showed nothing there or a little bump of something else.
Thanks
George
Didn't some have a "GM" and some had a "Greyhound" emblem?

By looking at the photos in my GM Intercity Coaches booklet, the 4107's had a large GM the same as my 4106. They may have changed in later years as the 4108 has GMC.
Both of mine have GMC on the front.
Ken
That's kind of what I'm seeing too, a lot of them appear to have the GMC emblem.
I've seen a couple with the big GM and quite a few with nothing at all.
The greyhounders appear to mostly, but not always, have the greyhound on the front.
I guess they were more customized than the 4106, which mostly appear to have the Big GM logo.
I kinda like the big GM logo, but it suppose the GMC is perhaps more authentic?
Anyone have a line on where to get either logo?
Not something I'm going to do right away, but I think I'd like one of the GM(C) logos up front :)
Geom, I have seen some GMC buses with a late model red/chrome GMC emblems. Think new GMC trucks. They mount them on the ribbed aluminum centered on the front. I think I have an extra GMC emblem. If your interested I can check for you.
Ken
If you wanted to get fancy.. or cut the C off..

Hmm, tempting. But I think I'd like to get one of the originals if possible.
Plus I like the look of the more rounded GM on the 4106 better than the blocky new GMC logos on trucks :/
I guess I'd like to stay authentic, just to try and restore some of the original bus look of it.
That's of course somewhat impossible with the front cap being replaced from the original raised window/roof.
But compromises must be made as it must also be functional as a home :)
I'd actually looked into what it would take to undo the front cap and put that cute little window back in, and I know I'm not going that original any time soon, LOL.
George -
If I get a chance, I'll look tomorrow in my GM parts stash, I think I have a set of OEM GMC letters off a 4905, which would be similar to the ones on the front of that Pioneer coach pic at the top of this thread.
If I find them, I'll send you a pic.
RJ
Thanks RJ, that would be awesome! I appreciate it.
Keeping fingers crossed ;)
Geoff (?) George (?) -
Yup, I do have a set like the ones on the front of that Pioneer coach. Sitting on my desk right now, found them in storage this afternoon. All three letters are in pretty good shape, no corrosion at all, but the letter "C" has one of the three studs broken off - not enough to keep it from being mounted tho.
Since this board's photo acceptance is funky, PM me with your smartphone number and I'll send you a pic.
