I would pay the price and buy from MCI,I bought 4 at bargain off Ebay it turned out not to be such a good buy they are 17 years old "new" air springs and have cracks
HI;
I just got two air bags from Lucas about two months ago for
my MC-7. They were about $80 each plus shipping. You might
also need the hardware for them, depending how much rust
you have to deal with. He will be glad to tell you all about what
you will need.

Good luck, Merle.

General safety question regarding airbags. Do they have a service or shelf life? And how long would that be? Safety first! HB
Run them till they blow. Just kidding.
I have never heard of a recommended scheduled service for air bags. I just keep an eye on them. I replace one when it starts looking weathered and cracked. Whatever makes you feel good.

Henry,I could never get a direct answer from Stemco (GoodYear) the Prevost Service Center in Ca told me they don't sell one past 4 years old from the manufacturing date
They are made of rubber and the Ozone affects the bag I would think just like a tire I am not a happy camper with my EBay bargain NOS bags they are cracked bad
I was ordering some parts and I see MCI has a sale on air bags plus another 10% off
Anywhere near Washington DC. ;)
Just for what it is worth to you I would change all at once. I had a fully inflated bag blow one day while my wife was registering us at an rv park and it was so loud that people came running out of the building to see what the explosion was. My wife said it shook the whole building. Then being on a Friday afternoon I could not find any service center to come out and replace it. Finally found a local truck dealer on Monday and drove it there really slow and left it and replaced all 8. The one that blew was saved it looked all shreaded where it blew out.
Anybody happen to have the part number laying around for the tag axle airbag of a 102a3 ?
I bought mine all from Luke for several reasons: 1) it will be the right part for your bus 2) He will include whatever should be in the assembly 3) His price will be very fair and 4) MOST IMPORTANT- He will continue to be a good resource FOR US as long as he stays in business---that's where we come in.
My 2 cents worth :)
Oh Gawd I hate being stupid! All this time I had ASSUMED that we were talking about passenger restraint airbags. Just now I realize that you all are talking about suspension airbags taking the place of leaf springs. Augghhh! Embarrassing indeed. HB :)
bus conversions 101 might have them
Leaf springs? HB? Are you ok? Should we send someone to perform a wellness check on you? Lol

Hey. Be nice! Some of *us* have been around long enough that we still think of "leaf springs" as normal!
Yep, leaf springs. Those long heavy springie steel thingies that look kinda like ... well you know ... leaves. Definitely NOT those funny dinky nerdy fake dumb silly not cool coil thingies that collapse and go boink without good shocks.
You know what I mean. One reason out of many why my old Crown Supercoach 40 foot 10 wheeler handled so good including running her right onto and over the hard sand beach at Crescent City National Park in Cal. Try that! HB :) :)
Once on top, she planned like a dirt bike. A little bit touchy slowing down and turning around. I hate being crazy. :)
Lol. Did our MCI's ever come with leaf springs? Maybe someone has a black and white photo of one equipped with them :) lol. You guys are fun and I enjoy razzing you every now and then :)

Hey I must point out that the MCI Couriers had leaf springs until the 1957 Courier 96 came out with air bag suspension. It was quite a big deal then. I have seen posters advertising the smooth comfortable ride of that new feature.
When did GM buses first had air bags?

Gotta be cheaper than the one I ordered today for a Monaco with a modified suspension. It will be on the other side of a 1K bill by the time it gets in my shop door. For ONE bag!
