They seem to specialize in employing idiots in the evenings.
The Kool Seal site stated Kool Seal can be tinted. Lowe's agrees they can tint Kool Seal. The moron in the store this evening denied Lowe's tinted Kool Seal. Then when shown the message from Lowe's that they did, that it was "put through" their machines. No putting through needed - tip the dyes in and shake the can! Or even tip the dyes in and I'll stir the stuff!
This is not the first time I've met idiots in the evenings. I remember one fellow pretending to look at the computer then tell me Lowe's didn't stock a product. I walked to the shelf, pulled it off, located the employee and asked him if it was Scotch mist. He walked away so I ended up reporting him.
Lowe's really does employ some minimum wage dregs.

My tactic in the big box stores is to rely as little as possible, ideally not all, on the staff there for anything. I research everything ahead of time; with Home Despot I even check which aisle and bin the items are in before I leave home, then I can go straight to the item, then straight to the self-checkout. In, out and back in the car in less than five minutes - that's my way!
Incidentally, why are you tinting Kool Seal? White roofs are appreciably cooler in hot weather than colored ones.

I want the roof to be the same color as the rest of the bus.
Looks like Lowe's is off the list. I was going to slap a coat if cool seal to insulate and take care of two leaks. I'll just go up there with silicone caulk instead now.

Highly recommend you use only white color for roof. Even silver will conduct a lot more heat than white. There are so many white roofed buses, I wouldn't worry about looks-comfort is much more important. Good Luck, TomC

The local store manager says they don't.
Reading around, you can put up go 2oz of tint per gallon.
Looks like Lowe's needs to get its act together!
I'd be OK with just mixing the tint myself. Kool Seal can't be that hard to stir!

Never ever had any long term success with silicone to keep a roof leak free. But it works great for making tenacious messes.
Since the space between the panels is so small, any movement between them pulls the silicone off of one or the other - the resulting small gap invites water in by capillary action.
Seam sealers seal best when they don't harden & remain sticky.
I'm probably going to find it hard to find the leak. I might just put aluminum tape over the joins. I can simply paint over that. An alternative would be good old duct tape!

I had some tree-limb damage to my bus when I bought it. I found all the split rivet holes and cracked areas in the aluminum roof panels and fixed them. Went over all the repairs and seams with silicone seal. I had leaks everywhere after 2 years. When I went back, I found that there were more metal cracks and splits in panel seams (both repaired and some that were OK when I'd fixed it before). The only thing I can figure is that all that big metal area moves around under thermal stress and when the vehicle is moving. Tape and sticky sealer just AIN'T gonna do it ...
I bought some Bus-Kote (primer, paint, sealer), applied it with a roller after I dug all the cracked silicone out, and haven't had problems since. Oh, and going from a white painted roof to a white Bus-Kote roof dropped my inside ceiling temps 10 - 12 degrees. That's what worked for me. DIYW ...
Right now its going to be tape. Silicone sealant seems to be working just fine everywhere else

Just for the record,Lowe's does not have the market cornered when it comes to hiring idiots.Home Depot has their share also.Needed a shade they didn't carry in stock.Told the gal to go ahead and order it and I would bring it in and have them cut it.Oh no,she replied,when you order it ,it's yours !! We can't do anything with it or to it,even tho it says on their web site that yo can take it to ANY Home Depot store and have it sized.Thankfully ,we have two of their stores here,so rayher than make a big stink,I went to the other store.No problem!!

They sell roof cool kote back where the roof sealers are located . Comes in silver which I used on a camper trailer a couple of years ago with excellent results. Not as cheap as duct tape though.
Just had a chat with a mate who used to run busses. His first suggestion was to drill out the roof rivets then lift the roof panels and replace the rubber seals with slices of inner tube. That'd work if I was under cover.
Second suggestion was to soda blast all the old silicone Seal out and paint with anti rust paint then reapply silicone Seal. That sounds like what I'll do.
A blaster gun is $17.99 at Harbor Freight. I'll try to get there tomorrow though it sounds like great weather for a dukw!
