Hi All, Van and I are thinking about this years Dam Rally at Lake Mead, is there any interest in attending by you bus nuts? how about southern Nevada, southern California, southern Utah, and northern Arizona bus nuts, trying to get a concensus, if any of you would attend this year, lvmci...
Tom, we might be in the region in Nov. When are you thinking of having it?
JC
I'm in..
hi JC, mid Nov weekend, is when we usually hold it, I think, Van will be back from his world tour by then...
how about you 50 guests lurking and reading the posts, sign up and come see the world renouned Billy Van giving a seminar on buying your first bus conversion, held al fresco at the beautiful lake mead rv resort, we will, give you written instructions, on a paper bag, on how to get to B&B bus conversions, to see real live bus conversion technicians, technicianing, on a real live bus thing, cutting holes and doing all kind of technician things, lvmci...
hi Moose, which bus you thinking about bringing? tom...
That's a great spot. We'd be interested. Jack
great Jack, you gonna drive the new bus, just like I did, first time out? tom...
Count me in, regardless of how much fuel I have to burn to get there! :o
You could just free wheel there. It is coming back up that'll use up some fuel!
Hoping to make it there and see you.
JC
If we get enough peeps to show up I can drag down the karaoke gizmo's so tom can let his inner self out LOL!
Yep Van is the only person I know that averages 12.5 mpg with a 6V92 in a 40 ft Eagle,is it at the same location ? ;D
hi.Clifford, Sonja and you thinking about.coming up.for the festivities? tom...
Clifford, yes, well maybe a few spots over but yes
Yea but I don't like the $54.00 a day they charge for nothing but it is" Vegas Baby", I guess you could call me a tight @$# we would probably park in the cheap section next door.If we come I'll bring the fajita meat ;D
LOL the 54 bucs is if you are a FMCA member the rest of us pay 45 with a Good sam card ;D
LOL I am ok with Good Sams I have one of those also
Big maybe we might be there...
Hi Tom, If the big bus was as far along this year as your bus was last year I'd say yes. My big bus is quite livable now with the exception of not having any holding tanks. In order to get the RV designation from DMV, I plumbed all the water to a single 5 gallon bucket in one of the bays and ran the sink and shower drains back into the same bucket. Worked like a charm. Oh, the toilet had a free fall of about two feet into it's own bucket which did not recirculate--I've really got to do something about that! Electric and propane are up and running. See you at the meet! Jack
Hi Jack, Matt looking forward ta seein you guys there
The weekend before Turkey day would fit beautifully with my run to my son's in Colorado Springs for the holiday. . .
;)
hi Jack, if you eat a lot of rice just before coming to the Dam Rally, you wont need more than a 5 gallon bucket!
hi RJ, we hope to see you and your fine Angola 5, Van and I have yet to discuss dates, usually we hold it 13, 14, 15 Nov, 2nd weekend of Nov.
any of you guys interested in those Dam shirts this year, or how about Dam Rally iphones or Dam Rally engraved stainless steel pots and pans set, emblazoned by acid etching with the unforgetable countenance of the Van himself. due to popular demand we wont be having wolfgang puck cater the Dam family getogether this year, but hopefully Cliffored will bring his bar-b-q spatula to stir up the festivities,
lvmci...
I think the 13 14 & 15 are good dates to hold it, right before Turkey Day any one want to second that? Spoke with my good friend Danny (Counts Customs)about about coming and judging the show and shine, Unfortunately (for us) he will be judging a Bikini Contest. He said he could send over Horney Mike and his Horney Bus to fill in, I told him that I'd have to get back to him on that one lol!
Count me in too and once you determine the exact dates send me an email with information with the dates, location, and contact person and contact information and I will include it in our Rally Announcements section in Bus Conversion Magazine. The sooner you send me the information the better. Send the info to Gary@BusConversions.com.
hi Gary, thanks, that's our usual weekend, 13/14/15 fri/sun, that it's held, the Dam Rally NRG at lake mead rv park, everything is the same, except the dates, Van or I will email it to you this week, if that is good enough to make it for the November magazine, tom, lvmci...
Thanks lvmci. If you get me the info this week, we can put it in the Oct issue that will go to press next week.
hi Matt, Carolee and you gonna be down this way? it would be great to see you, tom...
Are these the "Official" dates. If these in fact are the dates for the Damn Rally is it necessary to make reservations at the Lake Mead Rv Park or do we just show up because there is plenty of room. Are there customs to be observed for sharing of food and drink or is it an AD HOC gathering of AD HOC bus people. Considering that we often travel "toadless" it is always best to pack the appropriate supplies before heading out. We strive to adhere to the 6 P's Proper Planning Prevents Piss Poor Performance. Any additional cultural or social advice would be appreciated. ;D :D
Planning for that DAMN Rally
Melbo
There is always wheels around Mel then Albertson's and Von is just a mile or so away
Thank You Clifford
I was wondering if I should make a reservation or bring supplies to share. We always travel heavy on supplies for our personal use we NEVER run short. We don't dry camp unless the genny is running and sometimes that is not polite. Just trying to fit in on our first trip.
:)
Melbo
I don't know how Van and Tom are going to handle that part the last time you made your own reservations they have 50 amp service I sure one will give more details
Hi Melbo, it will be, so great to have you attend the Dam Rally, it is a non rally gathering, you make your own reservation and stay as long as you wish, we are around spaces 9thru11 at the lakeside fence, these have the easiest egress for 40' buses, if your going to stay at the campground you will want to stay as close to the RVpark fence as possible, Tom C do you remember what space number you stayed in, I think generator time is 9to9p? We usally have a dinner Saturday evening, everyone brings something, and we have a Bar-B-Q, Clifford was spatula master last year, up the hill about 1 1/2 mile is the Hacienda hotel casino, same distance other direction is supermarkets and several resturants, you will be entering lake mead national park, the only customs we observe is baptism in the lakemeade church by the reverend bishop Billy Van andthe associated tatto, tom, lvmci...
here's some pictures from the previous Dam Rally's...
looking towards the south and Boulder City...
Alrighty folks here it is almost a month away! We just made our reservations for the 13-14-15 Nov at the Lake Meade RV Village, now if you don't require hook ups there is dry camping right next door and no registration is required. If you would like full hook ups this is where Cheryl and I will be parked, at the lake front sites. Call and make your reservations here http://www.lakemeadrvvillage.com/rv-village/ (http://www.lakemeadrvvillage.com/rv-village/) and mention you are with the BUSNUTS Group so they can get us settled in together. This is a NRG event. for those scratching your heads ?????, it stands for "Non Rally Gathering". This is not a club orginization or any thing of the sort, thus no club meetings, agenda meetings etc. Just fellow Busnuts doing what we do best re-conecting with old freinds, meeting new ones, and talking bout our coaches. Every one is invited, there are no rally fees what so ever! You will have to cover the cost of entry to the national park, and if you alredy have your yearly passes you are good to go! The other cost wil be (what ever you decide) for the full hookup stay or the dry camp area which should be no more than 6-10 bucks per night (more on that later). Pot luck meals, the main meal will be that Saturday afternoon. Hopefully Clifford and Sonja will be there and Clifford ( one of the worlds best grillman) will delight us all with his cuisine ;) There is lots to do in the area and lots to be seen. There will be a custom car show for the VFW going on just out side of the park also! So mark the dates make sure you don't miss this one. If you would like t-shirts be sure you PM me with the quantity and sizes. any other info regarding this event you can either PM me here or call my cell @ 702-six six four-four 2 six 5 and I will be glad to help ya's out :) Thank you for veiwing and look forward to seeing you at the next Dam Get together! ;)

We are all ready! fuel topped off and the BBQ is loaded. Looking forward to seeing you all, and some road time in our bus ;D
Damn to far! but I'll be jealous of your rally. Bob
hi Bob, wish you could be here also, at the dam rally, lvmci...
Yippee! Honeysuckle Rose and we have been allowed to make a return visit to Lake Mead! Let me know if there is anything we can help with at the NRG. Jack

LMAO "road time" ;D ;D ;D ;D where do come up with this stuff
Hey we are gonna take the long route this time, might stop at RR pass before we head out. That adds almost 12 miles additional to our road trip! ;D I think LVMCI has us beat on mileage though ;)

Won't that more than double the length of your trip?
I would love to finally meet you all if I can get my grey/black tank done by then? Or I could use the 5 gallon bucket idea ;D ;D Might have to check the change in the piggy bank to see if I can afford the fuel from St. Louis ;D
Scott, There couldn't be a cheaper time to travel than right now. Even here in coastal Kalifornia we are buying diesel at $2.39 a gallon! Wiffy is from your neck of the woods and I'm sure she'd be interested in meeting you'all. Last year was our first rally and even in our throw back of a bus we were welcomed--good group of people and a beautiful location. Jack
Yes about 620 dollars in fuel one way now
hi Scott, it would be great to have you at that dam rally, the trip out is so beautiful, no matter what route you take, las Vegas, Grand canyon, are all so close, you can get peanut butter pancakes in boulder city, watch a heard of wild big horn sheep mow the lawn at a city park, eat at the Dam Hotel, you could even drive your bus thru beautiful downtown Searchlight, maybe the hilite of your trip! lvmci...
Yes I have been out that way many times on my Harley and 1 time in a car, but never in the bus, unless you count when I picked it up in Phoenix. I would love to come thru the Rockys, but not sure about snow in the mountains this time of year? Is there a dry camping spot close where I can run the genset 24/7 or at least at night close by? I haven't been able to figure out the battery bank system in my bus yet, so I have to run it, and wouldn't want to make my bus friends mad ::)
hi Scott, yes there is a camp site directly next door, Clifford ma be staying there also, its just a few dollars a day, park near the lake side white fence line of the RV park, others have attended the dam rally and stayed there, lvmci...
Hi guys! We have our spot reserved in the lake side spots, don't forget to mention BUSNUTS when making your reservations at the http://www.lakemeadrvvillage.com/. (http://www.lakemeadrvvillage.com/.) No reservations are needed if you will be dry camping next door. See you all soon! :)
I just made my reservations for the Dam rally along the fence line. I will be arriving a day early on November 12th to get settled in. Everyone that shows up for the rally will receive a FREE 6-Month subscription to Bus Conversion Magazine. I know the owner of the magazine and he is a great guy! I will be bringing either the Eagle or the MC-9. You will have to show up to see which bus I decided to bring. Reservations are $50.40/night (tax included), but $10/night spaces are available across the street with no hookups from what I understand. I hope to see you all there.
Hey that is great news Gary, depending on how my week goes I might join ya on Thurs. We'll see ;) According to LVMCI They might have us over closer to the dry camping area so we can be all cozy ;D
Hi All, well the big day is getting close, the Nevada Hiway Patrol, has already contacted me about closing down US93 so that Van and his possee can caravan down to the Dam Rally, the girls at Lake Mead RV Park, have brought in the candy stripers from Boulder City General Hospital, to calm the residents there down, and the Coffee Cup Diner has a stack of peanut butter pancakes ready for me! So I guess all is right in the world, to proceed with that. DAM RALLY . In case your calendars have weatherd your pencil scratchings, Nov 13/15 are the magical days that may cause the earths rotation to shift 7 degrees to the left, because the Dam Rally will take place. So pack up the old buggy, fill the propane tank, empty your local 7 11s diesels tanks, and dont forget a 12 pack of your favorite adult beverage, and take a picture crossing into the great Mojave Desert too, for the most memorable adventure of your life, lvmci...

Snowing in the mountains of Colorado. The State does require you to carry snow chains if your traveling through the mountains from like October until May or June I believe. Kind of a new law for large vehicles. They have been working on, all passenger vehicles have adequate snow tires during the winter months but so far it has not passed through the state house.
Have fun out there. Some day the wife and I will be at these rallies with Tatanka.
Ken
Like Barney would say, "This is going to be BIG, real BIG!"
Leaving here next week. Looks like making the Dam rally is really possible. Clifford, the pail of honey is on my list.
JC
If you get here early and need a place to hangout or work on the bus JC the shop is cleaned out and there is 50 amp service also
Great, thanks.
JC
JC, what honey? Tom, lvmci...
Lvmci,Tom 1 of you guys need to get me a total head count for the Fajita meat and how much chicken and how much beef, the last time it was a WAG on my part and I don't want to do that again ;D
Hi Clifford, OK, lets get a count, hey you guys, who's reading this and coming to that Dam Rally? lvmci...
Tom, it is local Alberta honey. We are bringing some down for Clifford. We will bring a few more for you and others who might like some.
The two of us are planning on being there.
JC
Two more 2 leggeds and one 6 wheeler--assuming that at our accelerated ages the combination of which is just under 230 years, we can remember how to get there or where it is that we are going! Jack
Hi JC and Jack so glad your coming to that Dam Rally, JC please bring an extra pot of Alberta honey for me, love the different kinds of honey tastes, tom...
Count me in for the Fajita's, I love them. I have decided to bring the half-painted Eagle and give the MC-9 a rest. For anyone that doesn't already have a Bus Conversion Magazine subscription that can tell which half of my Eagle was newly painted, I will give them a free Online subscription for six months. Also if we have any good photographers in the group, bring your camera so we can get some photos to put in the next issue of BCM. I heard the weather should be around 70 so it should be a great weekend. I am really looking forward to this non-Rally, Rally.
Gary
The Melbo and Billie have reservations.
Hi Melbo and Billie, it will be great to meet you, Gary thanks for bringing some door prizes, now Van tell the other guest, what they'll be seeing at that Dam Rally, tom...
Thanks Tom! Well we will certainly see more of this

Cheryl will be bringing her world famous APPLE PIE and signing copies of her new book,
"How To Get Snookered In 3-2-1 Easy Steps"
Now back to you Tom after a word from our sponsors! 3-2-1
I had heard if you put a new sewer line to your ear, you can hear what happens in your future, before it gets flushed away! True or not true? Believe it or not, the sewer line gods, predicted a 102C3 was in my future, and they were right! But now I cant afford to eat, so I dont need sewer lines any more...
This is one rally I am going to hate to miss
Lookin like a real strong maybe ,we might, possably, thinkin we goin to make it there....be parken in the cheap seats though...
LOL I would have never guessed that Matt you get the same view of Lake Mead only closer to the water by a 1/2 mile
I have a couple pairs binoculars with me if anybody wants to see the lake...you can use your cell camra and ZOOM in u might see it evenn from the preimim spots...lol
A guy told me last week the water in Lake Mead was so low the Big Horn Sheep were going to the restaurants in Boulder to get a drink :)
Hey we will have new areas to re explore when the water is gone. Camping by Grand Canyon ( south) ;D Matt you never pass up some free grub lol! We'll see ya there!
This is gonna turn out to be a nice get together, no rally fee's, club B.S. will not be tolerated what so ever ( I mean it this time! ;D) Free food! free comedy hour. ....And I even talked Danny (Count's Custom's) to discourage Horny Mike from coming! lol! Well the time is almost at hand Busnuts, to decide if you are coming or not. I think the only thing that would keep me from showing is if we were to win the LOTTO! In which case I would probably show anywho to buy the place so we can stay as long as we want! ;D
But really, come for the food, come to make new freindships or come and just visit and re unite with old freinds. Heck they are gonna give away free subscriptions of BCM Magazine's! Clifford, I haven't seen your (new to you) new bus yet and am anxious to see it ;)
We wanna be an over grow/under funded Busnut Event too! ;D
And as a plus, there will be absolutely no Adult Supervision at this event! :)
Just do it! Be there or be square!
V. Man 8)
LOL fat chance of winning a lotto in NV I need to kill 2 birds with 1 stone I hope Costco has my batteries at the time of the get together I hate making 2 trips through Harry Reid's land it's kinda of sicking
I feel ya there my freind, lemme know if there is anything I can do to help.
Hi Matt, they are cheap, $6 I think, and not far from where the fence line is, you'll have company there too! tom, lvmci...
I just spoke to a guy I met last month with a Prevost (Kenny) who lives just down the street from me and he is interested in attending along with maybe a couple other bus nuts friends of his. He asked if this will be at the Las Vegas launch ramp or the other one that is almost 50 miles away. Plz clarify and add a couple more head count to the list.
Are we up to 100 buses for this event yet? With 3637 Lookie-Loos reviewing this thread (so far), we must be getting close. If they don't all attend, that will be more 'Fa Hee Ta' meat for me and their loss as this will be a fun time or I will personally refund everyone's Rally Fee for this event!
There are 2 locations, Echo bay and Boulder beach. We will be at the Boulder beach location, accessible from Nevada Hwy (Boulder City,NV) or if coming from AZ 93 cross that Dam Bypass bridge and enter the park there. If you are coming from points North, there are a few choices here so plot your course accordingly. Overton, Valley of fire, via North shore drive has some nice scenery on a windy 2 lane. Other wise take the 515 (93/95) south into Boulder City. There are plenty of resources in Boulder City such as diesel, shopping at either Albertsons or Vons for grocery's and of course our world famous sidewalk cafe's and the Dam Brewery for some good grub. Good goin" Gary! The more the merrier! All are welcome so mount up Busnuts for the time of your lives ;) We look forward to seeing you all! Gary, Tom V. will pull what ever it is he pulls to get NHP to clear the road for your convoy ;D
hi Gary, this part of the Lake is reached thru Boulder City, off US Hwy 93, about 30 miles east of Las Vegas crossing the Colorado River at Hoover Dam, hense the rally name, as you pass thru Boulder City, you'll go down a hill towards the Dam and Hacienda hotel casino, before you get to the Hacienda, on the left will be a ranger station and main entrance to the Park, about a mile down the lake hwy is the entrance station and just past that is the RV park on the right, lvmci...PS, by the way, Hoover Dam used to be called Boulder Dam, that is why there's Boulder.City, not Hoover City, NV...
oops, sorry shoulda looked...
Thanks for the clarification. I just follow my GPS (I programmed in my X-wife's voice, as I was used to it for so long "TURN LEFT RIGHT NOW") so I would have found it anyway by being Fat, Dumb and Happy just like when I was married. But the other guys go out that way quite frequently and know the area a bit and wanted to know for sure as apparently they don't use a GPS they apparently travel using VFR when I always travel IFR since I bought my first GPS. ;D
Thanks
Funny, I'm always in such a cloud I thought I travelled "VFR on top"...
Oh boy! it's nearly time for the damn rally! I spent an enjoyable day today PM-ing and washing Honeysuckle Rose in preparation for the rally. We learned a couple of things last year about what works and what doesn't when you venture out in a tin tent. First off, if you sleep on an air bed that sticks out in a slide out, be sure to put a down quilt on top of the bed before the bottom sheet goes on. We nearly froze our asses off sleeping on the uninsulated plastic air bed once the temp inside the bus dropped to 30 degrees. Why did the indoor temps drop so low? Wiffy is afraid to use the propane heater when she is asleep and the thrift store electric box heater quit well before midnight. I've replaced the electric heater with two new to me thrift store box heaters so we should be good to go------. I know, sometimes I'm a slow learner but two used heaters should do the trick--U think? Jack
Hi Jack, I like the radiator oil filled style heaters, no fire hazard, consistant convection heat,I've only used the propane furnace in the dead of winter, or in the mountains, by the way, there are now 1/2 size versions with timers, tom, lvmci...
I like the oil filled heaters as well. They are larger than the 1500 watt electric heaters but they are much quieter than the electric fan type heaters, and significantly quieter than an RV propane furnace. They run about $80 at Home Depot. They seem to last between 2-4 years before they quit working out here in SoCal where it gets very cold. It can get down below 50 out here at night in the winter.

I also like the electric fireplaces as they are fun to watch and a bit more romantic to sit in front of when you are cuddling with your dog. They are relatively inexpensive at $100 and have a small quiet fan built in to distribute the heat...some. But they take up almost twice as much room as the oil heater.

Now the only question is does someone have the Ronda Rousey vs. Holly Holm on ppv so we can watch on Saturday night?? It will only last a minute or so.

Good read here http://www.fostertravel.com/outdoor-adventure-in-las-vegas-nevada/ (http://www.fostertravel.com/outdoor-adventure-in-las-vegas-nevada/)
Good article Van, just one major omission, the railroads created current day LV, the steam engines running from San Pedro to salt lake, needed wood and water to fuel their steam, there's a ponderosa forest at Mt Charleston and water bubbled up at 7 natural oasis in LV. Seven days and counting! ;)
7 days huh?....guess that might fit in my very tight travel plans....oroville wa to Pendleton or....316 miles....did that streach in 10 days....Pendleton to vegas like 850..if I leave here sunday I should make the rally by Friday .... if I hurry....
It will be great to see you two again, tom...
Taking the bus to Blackie AB from Invermere BC today. Then leaving Blackie (just South of Calgary) on Sunday or Monday. 1300 miles to the dam. See you all there.
JC
JC, that is a DAM good ride! tom...
Tom, last year we talked about an east/west route between I 15 and 40/95 that followed some of the old railroad lines. I can't for the life of me find the note I wrote to myself about it. Do you recall the route? We plan to use route 40 again this year. Can we find a way to the rail route from 40 or do we need to use I 15? Thanks, Jack
Only east- west hiway out there is the one that cuts off I 40 @ Fenner and goes through Goffs (old route 66) it dead ends at the RR crossing on 95 the road runs along the edge of the Mojave National Preserve not a bad road
What about 164 from I 15 to Searchlight? What sort of road is that and what is there to see? Thanks Jack
Hi Jack that road from Nipton is not bad, 55 mph posted but can save some mileage heading into Searchlight. See ya'll soon!

Maybe a tumble weed on a windy day with a Clark County cop chasing it there is nothing out there
Hi Jack, besides the route Clifford talked about, was it the 29 palms hwy through Amboy, Kelso, Cima? Nice ride, Kelso has the railroad museum. Tom...
Hey guys! If you are planning to attend the Dam bus (non) Rally please let me know, we need a head count for the Saturday Fajita meal
:)
. Looking forward to seeing you all! Thanx!
This years gathering is gonna be a hoot! 11 Coaches confirmed and counting, many still have not flipped the coin yet ;D Cheryl has feverishly been brewing her world famous Apple Pie and has out done herself once more, hope this weekend comes quickly cause my Mom has already got into one of the batches ;D
Stop thinking about it, ya know you wanna be here. Tell them Tom ;D
Hi All, I'm in Louisiana, can't wait to get home, start the bus up, smell that wonderful diesel aroma and hear that incredible roar of all those cubic inches, of pure Detroit iron. I'll be so happy to see all you happy campers, smiling faces and grumpy frowns included, so come on down, plenty of spaces in this park, you'll all be welcomed, tom, lvmci...
Just 4 days and a wake up, plenty of time to make it if you are on the East Coast! ;)
Idaho Falls tonight. Still a ways to go, but making progress. See you all soon.

Hi, busnuts. I'm in Alaska and it looks like I'm stuck here for a while. We'll try to get lined up on Quartzsite. I won't know for a while if that will work.
Take care.
Tom Caffrey
Hi Tom! We will certainly miss you guys this weekend, stay warm and safe up there and maybe we will catch up with you at the Q.
All the best!
Van & Cheryl
We'll be through Jackpot later today. We will look for the Eagle and Matt.
JC
Jc I'm goin to sit in wells today and let the roads thru Ely clear out looked dam ugly down there ...we at mountain shadows rv park in wells ...
2 more days and a wake up! Can ya feel the excitement? ;D
Hi All, beautiful weather this weekend, a little chilly for usins, highs around 65to70 F degrees, lows 48to52°, but bright blue sunny skys, so please don't let that discourage you guys from having a happy trail to that Dam Rally! There might be light breezes 3 to 5 mph, so make sure you bring a light jacket, wouldn't want anyone to get a chill, like people in other parts. If you decide not to come because of our weather, it's understandable, maybe the weather will be better at the next Dam Rally, yours truly, tom, lvmci...
Hey, careful now, we are not those Stick-N-Staple kind of "campers" that show up, plug in, and stay in our plush motorhomes for the duration, we are Bus Nuts. We use our buses as a means to get to beautiful places comfortably then we plug in, get out, set up lawn chairs, grab a blanket or two if necessary and enjoy the outdoors with our friends. Let's all get out there and enjoy the weather and think about all of those poor folks that live north of the Mason Dixon line that can only wish they could be with us in 70 degree weather. Don't try telling the fellow coming from Alberta that 70 degrees is cold. :D
We folks born in the northern climes take no note of your "chilly" weather and will arrive in "T" shirts with the sleeves rolled up and a bottle of sun tan lotion in our hand. Personally, I had hoped to do a little ice fishing on the lake--but I guess I'll just have break out my inner tube and go swimming! :D
See y'all soon. Jack
Hi Jack, the lake is awash with mussels brought in on boats from out of state, the most popular fun nowadays seems to be sailing and sail boards, but just recently saw a motorhome/boat crossover I know where you can get pontoons that we can rig up to your pretty motorhome and some paddles, if you'd like! Tom...
Dam. I should have left today. There is zero traffic out here in California. It is like it is a holiday or something out here. ;D I could have been there by now.
Matt, we missed your post about where you were in Jackpot. Looked in the Cactus Pete's parking lot and didn't see your bus... See you at the rally.
We went West from Wells to Battle Mountain, then South to Austin where we wanted to spend the night, but no level spot anywhere and lots of snow. Drove on and holed up in the small town of Kingston in the mountains just off 377. No internet there! In Beatty now for lunch. Probably Death Valley tonight, where maybe I can remove my long johns, and Hoover Dam tomorrow for the rally.
JC
Ya JC I could have told you all about Austin...lol
What time Van and Tom goin to show up with Bucket and brush to wash dirty buses...just wonderin...
Van somehow got the girls from Hooters on Tropicana, to come over saturday, with donation buckets, sponges, hoses and dove soap, for the poor bus nuts fund of Nevada incorporated, an IRS 501C3, nonprofit corporation, that is, people that wear Levi 501s and have mci 102C3s to pay for...
THAT WORKS...Tom...
That settles it. I am bring both of my busses after I completely cover them with mud. ;D
Yup! The weather is gonna be great this weekend! We now have 12 coaches Kevin the AZ dieselman just confirmed he will be there too! I'm afraid if you do not have prior commitments and don't make this Dam gathering you are really gonna miss out on the biggest Dam West Coast Non Rally Gathering of Converted Buses ever, and then you will have to wait to catch all the details and pix in the BCM Mag (and we all know how long that can be ::) ) LOL! Now you folks with the prevost's and Iggles gotta get on the ball and work together to raise those attendance numbers we are already being out numbered by the MCI crew! ;D I am off tomorrow and will be washing my bus for the show and shine on Saturday, don't worry bout it Matt we will have a special people's choice class for Show & Mud" for ya! ;D
See ya's there!
Van where is a car wash to wash the bus and toad in Boulder City? Just in case the girls don't make it.
JC
JC maybe we just leave them dirty so Van can see what 1200 plus miles of rode dirt looks like getting to his dam rally....lol
I sure hope THEY make it! I started rollin' in the mud as soon as I heard about the dove soap and the classie lassies!
The only place I know of is the Blue Beacon up there along the I-15 By Craig road, I think Tom knows that one. Tom?.....
Global Wash on S valley view is better than the streaking beacon but there are tons of the small mobile guys in the Vegas area.I lost the young mans card that all ways washed for us at Sams Town he did a great job.Watch out for the acid washes tell the washers soap and water only that acid stuff will make aluminum a mess
Yes global wash across from the TA on Blue Diamond, blue becon on Lossee and Cheyene, I think there's one on Boulder Hwy, the mobil guy I've used when he was at the Railroad Pass casino hotel, at the 93/95 junction, maybe Camping World on Boulder Hwy has one too, lvmci...
JC and I have been here for hours ...where is you peoples...
It doesn't start till Friday check out the buffets and I will be along later Friday and help you out ;D is the wind blowing ? it's terrible here
The wind is letting up now Clifford, looks nice for this weekend. I was down at the camp site, no body home. Saw JC's bus and your ol' bus ;D I will be pulling in tomorrow around midday, gonna fuel up tonight for the long trip lol!
Hey matt, keep an eye out for Gary Hatt, is my understanding that he was gonna check in today. Any sign of hims yet?
Gary is the CA traffic he may make it by midnight if he left at 8 AM
Oh ok! Thanks! ;) ;)
I am here now. Nice place and weather is supposed to be nice all weekend. If you use a GPS, you will need to drive about 3 miles after "You have reached your destination" to get to the $50 park. Just before that is the $10 park, and you can easily walk from one to the other as stated previously. I am in slip #5. Slips 1-4 are taken now but are supposed to open up for us tomorrow. The office closes at 5:00 so if you arrive after that I guess you will hhave to find your way down to Slips #1 - 10. I am taking my Lobsta traps down to the lake tomorrow so I will have something to bring to the Pot Luck dinner. Come one, come all.
It's still up in the air for us making it,they moved Nikki from ICU today but we have no answers when she will get out of the hospital.Been a long time since I had to drive 3 kids to school. Then Sonja preparing meals and braiding hair on 3 girls @ 6am. Plus the bus is not ready ,lol we do need a break.
Hi Clifford & Sonja, best wishes for Nicki to get well soon, hope you can make it up to the Rally, tom...
Temps out here at the Dam are supposed to be 80 today and 50 tonight. Should be a great day here and not a cloud in the sky. If you dont come out you will be missing a Dam good rally. Let's roll.
We will be loading up here in a minute, it's difficult trying to load all this stuff in a jeep. Miss my truck! Should be pulling in in a little over an hour ;)
Nikki was released last night so we will roll in Sat before noon, the fajitas will be in the afternoon if everything goes as planned
Well ima goin to get the dam pictures up...seems like the other pic takers arnt up...
and somemore buses and beach picture...
Matt, are those the girls who are going to wash buses today?
JC
Well Van out right now tryin to get them up.......lol
Have fun guys. Wish I could be there but I'm still stuck in fernley at the shop waiting for them to finish on the rebuild.
Hi All, beautiful weather, 11 buses one on the way, Gary and his wife Sandy, from B&B drove out to visit, advised our late comer on his broke radiator fan, Gary H adjusted his brakes with advice by azdieselman, JC lostagain brought Canadian Honey, wonderful taste, Carolee Ms saddleup, made an appetizer to honor my wife Tami, who showed her how to make it, our group dinner has everyone enjoying, Clifford & Sonja provided and grilled a wonderful fajita feast, a good time is being had by all, wish you guys where here, tom, lvmci...
Best Dam Rally we ever been to ....just sayin...
Maybe next year for me, I like the low key events, have fun everyone
Lee ya missed a good one, but don't you worry, there is another one in the planning for next year ;) Dates will be 11-13 Nov so mark your calender's and plan on being there. We had 12 coaches and 24 folks in attendance and having the time of their lives. I want to publicly thank all that traveled from far and wide for being there :) Weather was perfect Food was in great abundance and could have easily fed twice the amount of folks here. Now I am no literary expert, so I will let those who type with more than 2 fingers give the blow by blow report of all the fun we had but suffice to say each night was filled with song and laughter ;D
For the number crunchers.
12 Coaches
24 well fed happy campers. There is a rumor already of having another NRG come spring so all the returning North bound Snow birds can join in also, so watch for that one too!
Safe travels to every body on their way home as the SW winds have returned this afternoon. Till the next NRG next year All The Best to you in the New Year! Peace. Out Here! :)

Great rally! Made some great new friends.
Low key? No, far from that... Lots of goings on, showing off each other's buses, story telling and good lies around the camp fire...
Will be back.
Thanks Van, Cheryl, Tom for organizing this rally.
JC
It was a great gathering JC. You are always welcome!
JC, are you coming down to the Yuma area? ;D
Home now. Had a fun time at the lake.
Met some new "nuts" and reacquainted with others.
Good weather and conversation and plenty to eat.
Looking forward to seeing some of these folks again at the Q.
Thanks to the locals for a smooth weekend.
Kevin
Looks like a great turn out! I am sure we will be there next year......
I plan on retiring this coming May, the coach will be finished and we plan on hitting the road for a while.
Well we made it home safely through the wind the rain and even the snow. Had a ball. Thank you to all who contributed and showed up.
Melbo and Billie :D
Thanks to all that attended, it was great having you guys come to that dam rally, thanks so much to Clifford & Sonja, for bring and cooking the fajitas and a special thanks to Cheryl and Van for handling the majority of the work this time, tom...
Ed, we are in Phoenix now for 3 days or so visiting the in-laws. We might go to Parker next, then who knows... No plans.
JC
Back home from a wonderful weekend with great friendly people, everyone there was so friendly & helpful we enjoyed everyone & met some great people there. The evening campfire & conversations were very enjoyable. I been lurking on this forum for yrs reading it everyday never able to contribute anything because the knowledge here is unbelievable, I wish I would have known about the forum when I had my 1st bus of course then I didn't even know how to turn on a computer. THANKS TO VAN & TOM & EVERYONE ELSE FOR SUCH A GREAT WEEKEND. My wife said we will definitely be at the next one. So thanks again to everyone that attended that great get together.
Ok lol there wasn't but 2 Prevost owners there, both with special coaches Kenny with his Cummins powered Prevost or Tyke with his Kingsley converted Prevost so who is Prevo ;D .
We enjoyed the rally I got to meet a few new owners and that is always a special part of attending a rally to me

Hi Tyke, so nice meeting you and Bobbie too, it is fun sitting around the campfire, if I had thought to bring the marshmallows and coat hangers we could of flung flaming balls of fire in the air! I hear Melbo and Billie are great marshmallow flingers, and I know Matt can fling with the best of them, tom, lvmci...
Great group and probably the best camping pot luck I've ever enjoyed. We stayed until Monday and made it as far as I-40 before the winds came up. Honeysuckle Rose with her round body took the 40 to 70 mph winds in stride (well mostly). We watched two sticks and staples loose their awnings like a bomb had gone off. One of them passed us at about 65 mph and I could see the wind flexing the entire camper. About 500 yards later BOOM. I rolled by thinking "sucker". Then a couple of miles down the road I heard what sounded like a tire blow out and quickly headed for the shoulder. When I opened the door I lost both my knit watch cap and a favorite door mat before their disappearance could be recognized by my little pea brain! Luckily, the wind created parachute had not ripped the entire awning off and with the help of my very scared wife we were able to deploy the awning and rewind it without without ending up in Kansas. I tied the awning fabric with bungie cords and electrical wire and we set off at a very respectful 45 mph --- for the next hundred miles. Needless to say, we didn't beat the night time LA basin traffic, an experience I wouldn't wish on anyone.
Wiffy asked me upon our safe arrival home "would you do that again?" I answered, "when do we leave?" I'm still sleeping on the couch--go figger. Jack

Hi Jack, great that's there's no permanent damage, i saw the winds covered a great portion of the west, no getting away from it, same wind's caused power blinking on and off at the big show I was shooting, wrecking havoc with the cameras, tom, lvmci...
Hi All, thanks for such great interest in That Dam Rally, but if just a fraction of you show up next year, we'll have to take over the whole RV park! Please look forward to January's BCM magazine for an article on That Dam Rally, tom...
