Hey guys,
I am still at it, just about all done on the engine and engine compt as you will see in photos. I have one question and will indicate which photo I am needing advise on, there is a inlet /outlet on my filter canister and I have no idea what goes there. I believe 13 years AGO there was nothing but I know there has to be something to filter this end of the canister from animals, dirt etc. Can anyone advise me that knows.
You will notice that I have wrapped the entire exhaust system from engine to tail pipe on the muffler. I hope this cuts down on the heat inside and I made the right decision, if not this was costly to do, but what do I know. I have yet to install the left muffler on the driver side, run out of wrapping material, dahhh!!
I am including photos taken today of progress, All that is needed now is to install heater tubing to front from engine, install all proper gear oils and power steering fluid and engine is complete after all this time. The heat this summer sure put the kibosh to what I wanted to complete but that's life.
Gary
NOTE: the bottom photo and the center of the air canister is the fitting I am talking about needing protection from critters etc.
Here are photos:
the bottom tube has/should have a rubber cone. it is a dust ejector and relieves moisture.
similar...Donaldson calls it a vascular valve... IIRC... ooops its a Vacuator valve....:)

Keep an eye on the wrapped exhaust, especially manifolds for getting oil soaked from leaks. Some of the car forums talk about fires starting from this. Also not good if any of the pipe comes in contact with road salt spray in winter ,especially in noxrth east. Will perforate pipe in a couple of years. Otherwise will be a benefit and engine will make more horsepower from better draw of pipes. More is probably 1/2 to 1 horsepower. Just hang onto the steering wheel when you floor it.
Looking good Gary that is a lot's of detail work there ;D did you find a tach drive pin ?
Hello Cliff,
I did not purchase one yet, putting it off to do other things first but I know where to get one. Thanks for asking. I hope I can keep the engine looking good as it does now. I made two "Puke tube" reservoirs I will post photos of later today, one for each side for each slobber tube. It can be drained and just a little extra work to make this project stand out to me. Lots of fun if you take your time and think how to prevent this or that. But I have one hell of a lot to learn when actually using bus. Getting so darn anxious.
Gary
I tried to save you the 80 bucks but broke both trying to remove the pin, that is a dumb way to install a tach drive pin IMO
Well done my friend! 8) Everything looks spectacular!
Cliff, Here is photo of my (slobber tube reservoir) that has a bolt on the bottom with rubber gasket that I can just unscrew occasionally and drain out the slobber oil. I have one on each side of engine.
