Title: Bedroom closet finished
Post by: Brian Diehl on August 22, 2015, 02:36:17 PM
For the past month I have been busy building the bedroom closet.  I lined the closet with 1/8" cedar planks.  The floor is the same as the vinyl planking in the rest of the bus.  I made a shelving section on the driver side.  The center section is the hanging cloths section.  There is room for long cloths like dresses and plenty of shirts.  Finally, on the passenger side I made a small office.  So many time with kids asleep up front we find ourselves in the back.  It becomes uncomfortable to try and sit on the bed and do office related work/activities.  Now with the office area I have a place to work if I need to work on the road and a place for the computers to sit.  I made 3 bi-pass doors so any one area of the closet can be accessed even when one of us is in the office area.  I have a 12 volt power access point in the office area.  The TV is hard wired to 12 volt so no power wart is needed.  The switch on the left hand out side of the closet is for controlling the closet lights.  The office area light is controlled with a switch right on the lamp.  Feels so good to have this done!

Wow, I feel so inadequate! Very nice.

BTW, the Ely gathering has been cancelled. I sent a message, but your email bounced.

Very clever--lots of good ideas to steal though I know I can't match the quality!  Jack

Thanks guys.  The entire closet came together very nicely.  I can also easily remove the partition walls with a few screws in order to get the engine hatch.

Craig - thanks for the news on the gathering.  Hilary and I were just trying to figure out if we could make it work.

Brian - I love your attention to detail.  Beautiful work.

What's the dimension of the space  behind the closet area?

Hi Sean,
The closet area is about 7' 4" wide.  It is 18" deep (not including the doors) at the bottom of the closet.  It is 21" deep about mid-way up to the top of the closet.
