Title: DOT Inspection
Post by: moosemanusa on August 16, 2015, 11:21:42 PM
Any vegas peeps on here know any fair shops to visit for a DOT inspection?

Had a mobile one all lined up, then wasted 2 days of my time (its vegas after all)..

I just know how it works out here, things break when your back is turned etc etc..

Thanks

You mean price wise the test is standard none will let you slide on a item needing repairs,Freightliner does DOT on buses

As strict as California is on some things, they are really lax on RV's. I have had my bus since '94 and never had a smog or DOT required test. My truck is registered as MH and hasn't had any required testing. Do figure! Good Luck, TomC

A couple of years ago before a long trip, I brought the bus to a local diesel mechanic and asked for a general safety inspection.  I told him I did not require a DOT certificate but just wanted him to have a look at the systems.  He went and did a DOT inspection anyway, which we did pass.  He charged around $50. including adjusting the brakes.

Although not needing the certificate, it certainly could be a good thing to have in case of an accident.

message sent to B&B..

Its very surprising (No wait.. this is vegas)..

Call a place.. "Hey there. have a bus, need a DOT".. Sure.. bring it on down..

Pull up.. "Oh sorry we dont do buses, they're hydrolic?".. my responce.. errr no.. this isnt a school bus, this a real bus bus with air brakes.. 'sorry still cant do"..

4 places have pulled this game now..

Found a mobile, but couldn't be bothered to show up..

So I can wait for the end of the week for the freighliner guy to come back from vacation.. or go back to liars who said they could fit me in "maybe" tomorrow..

No wonder most people get crooked inspections!

Are you running your bus commercially and need a DOT inspection because of that?

I know there are a lot of commercial buses in Las Vegas.  Where do they get DOT inspections done?

Yep and Yep, just looking for "insider tips" This game is about connections..

Everyone points to one dealer but their guy is on vacation..

Found a mobile guy, fingers crossed this one shows tomorrow.. going to start prepping to get certified myself.

If you are wanting an inspection, that is one thing but if you just need a sticker you can buy those at the truck stops around and put it on yourself.
