Title: 4104 vs Pennsysvania Turnpike
Post by: JohnVickrey on August 13, 2015, 08:06:31 AM
Note to Self(and anyone else who's listening)
If you are driving your 4104 pulling your truck on the Pennsylvania Turnpike and they close the Turnpike.  Don't worry, just PARK SOMEWHERE UNTIL THEY OPEN THE TURNPIKE AGAIN.  Whatever you do don't try to take route 30 it will make you a madman.

Rt 30 west of Bedford is very educational.

John,

If you are in the SouthCentral PA area again ---and don't stop by to visit me --Rt 30 is your punishment!   ;D ;)

Did you ever get out of 1st gear?

Dave--East of Bedford is no picnic either!

John,

According to PennLive

"A 65-mile stretch of the Pennsylvania Turnpike is scheduled to temporarily close this weekend. The toll road will be closed between Breezewood at exit 161 and Carlisle at exit 226 from 11 p.m. Saturday through 5 a.m. on Sunday, according to the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission.
The closure will halt traffic in both directions for six hours to allow a contractor to place beams on the Meadowbrook Road Bridge in Cumberland County. "

I don't normally travel in the bus after dark, but this happens frequently with road construction in the Central PA Area.

It's almost unique that they are working on the Penn turnpike. Good Luck, TomC

I drove tractor trailer back in the 80's. I hated that turnpike from Pittsburg to Jersey.
The concrete was pored in uneven slabs about 40 ft. long. The speed limit was 55 mph which meant a huge cur thump >:( every 40 ft all night long. Wheew! ha
Wore out sore by morning.

They aren't working on the turnpike at this location. This is for a repair of a county bridge that crosses over the turnpike.
