I currently have a DDECIII ECM that uses J1708 protocol. I replaced all my gauges with digital ones that are J1939 and can't get them to communicate. I've tried everywhere to get the J1939 enabled but no luck. I even tried to update to a DDECIV through Detroit Diesel but was told that I have a specific application and can't do that. Does anyone have the answer or can direct me to someone that can help? I've talked with DD Tech support, MTU, and several W.W.Williams dealers in Michigan and one in Iowa.
Reasonably sure I can help. I'll PM you my number.
Ken
Were the manufacturer of the gauges any help?
Some Setra had a chassis computer for the digital gauges and speedometer if you are using the Setra gauges but Ken can fix you up
Any update to this one, would love to do this myself..
If you want a digital dash this is the easiest way to do it.
This looks fantastic.. Glass panel for a bus!
Shame it runs on windows (Linux would be nicer, then could run on a small board like a Raspberry Pi ($35)..)
If I could see how its wired I could probably knock something up in Python...
The magic of the Silverleaf VMSpc is a hardware box that converts from the engine data bus to USB so the software can display the data.
Yes, it runs on Windows, but I run mine on a really old Netbook that cost under $200. It has never crashed on me so far.
Found the box and cables for 385$ online (could see how to buy from Silverleaf directly)..
Seems a little steep on the price.
Apparently Silverleaf doesn't sell online because there are a variety of models of the JIB box depending on what engine you have. They want you to call so they can determine the right JIB for your system. I believe I bought my VMSpc system from a member here who used to be a dealer.
There are other engine monitors out there you are not just married to SilverLeaf.I have buddy that uses a 10 in tablet on his DD Pro/Driver.I am sure Jon of the PC board can give you a name as one of their members has a software program similar to Silverleaf.
I see the Scangauge in lots of motorhomes I was told they are under 200 bucks but I didn't care for the viewing screen on those
