This week we had to use our Coach-Net for the first time in 7 years. We were on our way to Erie Pa when we were 15miles away from our destination and we started to have engine troubles, but we made it to our campsite and the next morning I went looking for a mechanic and had no luck, so I figured I would call Coach-net and see what they could do. I got a hold of a lady that I told here our problem and she said she would put me through to technical support to see if they could find a qualified shop that would look at our coach but he had his doubt any one would look at it and he would call me back within a hour. About 45 minutes later he called back and said no luck at finding a shop that would take our coach in so they would tow it home for us were my mechanic could work on it. He said it didn't matter if it was 5 miles or 500 miles and wanted to know when we wanted towed, so I said we were here till Sunday and he said that was fine that they would call between 8 and 9 Sunday morning witch they did and said a truck would be there in 90 minutes. Truck arrives on time and got everything hooked up and off we went, 3 1/2 hours and 140miles later we pulled in our driveway safe and sound. The driver was very curtious and carefull with our coach and the bill was a little over $2000.00. So I just wanted to give Coach-net a hats off to a job well done.
Jason
"The bill"? Was it your bill or Coach-Nets bill?
Coach-net covered it all!
Good, thats what I was expecting. Your wording was a little sparse so I wanted to check. So now, add up your 7 yrs of paying for Coach-Net and compare it to your bill. Seems well worth it to me! ;D
CoachNet. Don't leave home without it.
Jason, is it me or does your bus profile picture look like RickB's bus?

Coach-Net has done fine by me. I had a wheel bearing fail and they sent a mobile mechanic from three hours away to fix the wheel bearing. He brought all the parts, but the spindle was damaged, so he took the wheel off the tag axle and chained it up. The original plan was to tow the bus to a shop, but they would chain up the axle first. I said I could drive the bus to the shop if the axle was chained up. My only expense was the labor charge while the mechanic was on-site. Coach-Net paid the travel costs. I ended up driving the 1000 miles home with the axle chained up. We aired up the drive tires to max on the side and got fuel more often to reduce weight.
Coach-Net also paid for a wrecker last fall when I got stuck in the driveway of my new to me house. I drove off the side of the dirt driveway and was sitting on the hitch. I was shocked that one of those pickup truck sized wreckers got a 38,000 pound bus out. The driveway has since been straightened out and paved.
Scott, It does resemble Ricks but I think the colors are different.
Jason,I hope it's nothing major you don't have that many miles on the engine do you ?
Cliff, No probably less than 5000 mile, we haven't got into it yet but he is thinking that a liner broke, it is putting a lot of oil out of the one drip tube and alot of smoke.
Bummer they have made it hard on us old guys not being able to buy liners in 1,2,3, or 4 sizes any longer, hone and fit it gets old in hurry
Yea, I know he did a lot of honing to make them fit. Hopefully nothing else got damaged.
Hope this works out. Always
makes my stomach churn to hear engine issues

Yea me to, makes me want to rethink what I did and wish I had went another direction like a series 50 or a cummins.
Don't wish too hard. We're having a terrible time getting Series 50 parts. Heads and balance shafts are always back ordered. Tried to buy some reman engines from Detroit. They're giving us 9 months.
Wow, I think you just got Coach-Net a sale.
I wish I'd known about them the last few years, though they probably would have dropped me with the number of problems I've had. :)
I would probably lean towards a cummins not sure what would fit in a 9, but just about anyplace you go I think you could find someone to work on them.
Jason
An ISM will fit...
Brian, what hp do they come in? not to familiar with the cummins sizes but someone said a m11 would fit.
My 102C3 has a Cummins L10 in it The bus company i purchased it from converted it years ago. I'm pretty sure the engine bay on a -9 is about the same size as the C3
Larry
The ISM is the better engine between the L-10 and M-11 with the same foot print you can have up to 500 hp with 1550 ft lbs of torque I like the 450 hp setting with 1550 lbs of torque a little easier on fuel than 500 hp and will last longer JMO.
If you have room for the Allison MH 4000 transmission that is the way to go,down side is you need to change the rear gears for the MH 4000 or you will running around in 5th all the time
Clifford the non EGR ISM's like mine are 450/1200. To get 500 you have to change the turbo, but the torque remains the same. The new smog engines are different.
My friends is a 2012 or 2013 Foretravel it was 500 hp with 1550 lbs of torque I don't how they do it but he dropped his to 450 hp and torque stayed the same runs cooler now that was a problem he was having it still heats up but not as bad @450 hp.
Mark have you talked to John and Sandy lately I understand they have a new 45 ft toy with a Cat engine lol another Eagle on the market soon
Cliff, I just sent you a message on fb with a couple pictures, if you could look at them and give me your thoughts. Thanks Jason
Here we are on the hook, I didn't know the wife got any pictures
Clifford I have not talked to them but last I heard they were talking about that. I was surprised.
