Hello,
Has anyone here put an alternator in the area where the on road AC compressor was. Mine was removed when they put in a new
clutch several weeks ago. I thought I saw a post several years ago on here but I can't seem to locate it. Mine is a MCI-5B.
Thanks in advance!

On my MC5A with 871 I made a little bracket and hung an internally regulated 12v alternator from NAPA in there. We drive it with a single belt off of that cam shaft pulley. PM me your cell# and I'll send you a couple pictures. Its only like 60amps but it keeps the house batteries charged while we drive down the road running off the inverter. We start the generator if we need Air Conditioning or if we drive for hours after dark.
I think the key is to get an alternator with internal regulator. Also known as a single wire alternator. I might have the NAPA number somewhere.

Yeah, it's nice to have a bracket with it but for almost $300, you should be able to pick up a new (i.e. with warranty) single-wire alternator for less than that.
Fred, I sent you a PM.
