Hello,
As stated I'm new on this Site and have begun to have some interest in a bus conversion. I am leaning toward a "short bus" or a truck conversion, but still in the research phase right now.
I have a friend who has acquired a 30's or early 40's Gemmer styled Wayne bus and is considering making it operational. This bus has been stored in a very arid climate and is in quite good condition for its age. Its a monocoque structure with sections bolted together. The engine is missing and there are no serial numbers anywhere on the unit. This unit might be a last survivor as neither of us have found any evidence of one still in existence.
So basically I am looking for input on its rarity and any information other than the History listed on the Wayne bus site.
Thanks
Howard
Consider parts availability on such an old bus. Too many recent buses around. Good Luck, TomC
Like Tom said parts could be a huge issue unless your rich and can gave everything fabricated. Post some pictures for analysis.
Thanks Guys
Right now its a rolling chassis that needs a complete running gear upgrade. Fabrication and parts aren't a huge issue. We both have an inventory of donor trucks to upgrade with. I was more concerned over cutting and modifying what might be a last survivor. Its amazing to me, that it survived the metal drives during WW II.
I will have to ask permission from my friend before I can post pics....
If it was not historically significant or needed to be in a museum, I would take a modern frame with modern suspension and powerplant and put the Gemmer shell on it.
I think they were a truck conversion, correct?
