Title: Question: 24vdc alt. belt tensioner.
Post by: JerryH on January 06, 2007, 03:47:47 PM
A continuation of my previous thread http://www.busconversions.com/bbs/index.php?topic=2895.0.

Got the replacement belts from NAPA.  Went to make the "quick & easy" swap -- but didn't happen.

The valve for the tensioning cylinder won't release the tension.  WAS working fine during my return trip escapades ... but won't work now that I have the belts.

Unless I am missing something, I am pretty confident the issue is in the valve.  Any thoughts.

Thanks,
Jerry H.

Is it really cold there in PA. ? Could be ice in air line not letting it work.  Just a thought

Cpt. Ron:
Ugh, 68 deg. the other day, 50-something yesterday.  Incredibly warm lately.
I am gonna look into the dirt -- could be that.

I am assuming you have air pressure built up?

Beyond that, the valve on mine periodically misbehaves by leaking and then mysteriously stops.

Sometimes erratic in retraction.

On my list for preventive maintenance replacement.

happy coaching!
