Hey guys!
Just got this P8M4905 and brought it home. It'd been sitting for a year, with infrequent starts for the last 2 months. Started fine with a trickle charger before I purchased, and we knew batteries were a cost. There's now two new 4D batteries for starting power.
It's an 8v71. When I go to start the coach, I hit the main lever in the battery compartment, then go inside. The bus is in neutral. I hit the first switch, and I get a buzzer. When I hit the start button, nothing. No sound of a starter engaging, or of the engine turning over. I've heard things about the emergency shutoff solenoid being stuck, but my manuals haven't arrived yet. Additionally, the low oil light is on. I've been advised to only use the correct weight of oil.. but don't know what weight that is.
Any help will be greatly appreciated!
Ideas t try
Put back in gear then back into N maybe the switch isn't making contact.
Verify that the rear run switchs ar not on or that they don't have the start disabled.
Verify that the batteries are hooked up correct and the the ground to the chassis is good.
Try it in Day and Nite mode I have been in some GM's that only start in day mode and not night.
Just some thoughts.
Low oil light will always be on when it's not running. It's oil pressure not level that it detects. Unless it was on when it was running.
Delo 100 40wt is what I use but other CF2 rated straight 40wts are available.
Haha, good call! It wasn't quite making contact with the neutral switch. Fired right up.
Thanks!
