I was listening to the Stevie Wonder album Innervisions and the song Living For The City. I remembered there was a bus leaving sound. I listened and thought it was a 6-71, but in a Crown school bus with manual transmission. Funny how things pop up from the past every so often. Good Luck, TomC
Maybe more 6V71 or 6V53, perhaps? If he's going to NYC in the 70s, perhaps he's in an MCI or Eagle or GM? Here's my friend Al's 6-71 Crown with a 10-speed for comparison - he likes his engine sound so much he replaced the muffler with a piece of plain pipe: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cuWMdYs-MxQ (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cuWMdYs-MxQ) And this is when we all went hooning into town during our Memorial Day get-together (we think Al's turbo isn't working so well, thus the smoke!): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d-1nMvB8aYw (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d-1nMvB8aYw) (The first bus is a 1959 6L71 5-speed, the second is a 1957 with a tired Cummins 220, mine's the third, Al's is the fourth, someone familiar with this forum is in the MC9, and Moki is bringing up the rear with his Hewlett-Packard bus complete with a 370HP Big-Cam.) Lots of good sounds, but none of them like in Living For the City (go to 4:15): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f8N_Zv_0llI (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f8N_Zv_0llI) Who cares, it's all good!
