Hey guys, I lost my brake lights. Turns work, headlights and tail lights work. Just no brakey. Power at solenoid under driver seat. Wires are hot though. Like barely hold them hot. Wires 812 and 809 respectively which go to stud 20 on the drivers side panel. I've tried everything. Three of us have been working on this for hours and nothing.

Scott - work back from the brakelights at the rear end. Don't try and work from the front back.
hi Scott, check grounds first, I had same problem, took alligator clips and isolated which grounds corroded, even used alligator as ground till figured them all out, lvmci...
Scott,
do you have power at the bulbs when you step on the brakes?
It is possible to be a ground issue if the lights are tied together or if by happenstance that both grounds failed. If not then I would trace the hot wire up to the pressure switch from the foot pedal.

Ok, I worked from both ends worked until 11pm just because we needed to get this bus home to Michigan from Texas. We couldn't figure out what was going on. I finally jerry rigged a set of wireless led road lights as brake lights. Ghetto, but it got us home. Bus is now in Michigan safe and sound. Here's what I did do though:
1. No voltage at socket when brake applied
2. 12 volts at air solenoid under driver when brake applied.
3. Wires attached to solenoid were too hot to touch all the way back up to stud 21 or 22 in the panel (can't recall which).
Finally undid the wires that were hot to touch and then just put a new wire on the solenoid and ran that to my wireless trailer lights transmitter and zip tied that to the roof of the bus. Then mounted magnetic wireless LED brake lights to my toad. So bus didn't have brake lights but did have running and turn signal lights and toad had brake lights. Got the job done. Will chase this down later. As in next summer. Thanks for the suggestions

Scott where did you get the wireless toad lights? sounds like a solution to a problem I am experiencing on a non-bus vehicle!
;D BK ;D
It's these Bryce. They aren't cheap, but they work. I actually put the antenna at the front of our bus near the windshield cause I was tying into the brake signal at the air brake solenoid. The lights were far away...40 bus plus tow bar (3 feet) plus length of Land Cruiser (13 feet) and they still worked. Works with 4 pin or 7 pin harnesses:

Scott just wondering if you maybe have a 24 to 12 volt converter that might be shot in the back somewhere. Mine was blowing the runners but I had stop and turns. Figured out it was the converter box doing it. change it and all was well.

Ooh. Good one Dave. I wouldn't be surprised. I have the exact symptoms except brakes don't work. I'll dig around the bus next summer and see if there is one
