I was in the process last year of starting to figure out where to mount my homemade hyd levelers but once I removed my duals and tags I ended up replacing all
my airbags, rod bushings, airlines, brake Actuators, level valves rebuilding the dd3 cans and dryer and a slew of other crap, so by the time I got that done I ran at of time to work on the hyd. levelers so I was wondering if anybody had any pics of there hydraulics mounted on the mci-9. I'm getting my info for this fall so I can try it again.

well here is what I have so far the cylinders I found are 3" bore 2"rod 18" stroke
I made the ends pivot (forget the degrees of pivot ) I just need to weld a disk on the end.
I found a new pump and auto level set a 2500 psi forget the name right now its packed away.
I have to get my head wrapped back around this its been a year since I played with it.
Hey is 18" stroke enough? I am just thinking out loud here while on medication for a majorly injured ankle...so take this with a grain of salt:
1. Distance piston has to travel to reach the ground.
2. Distance piston must travel to level coach

when I started this I talked to bigfoot and that is what size they use for the mci $$$$$
the cylinder with foot, retracted is 27" long I don't know if it will fit in the front.

should take less than 8" to the ground and 10" off lift according to them

yes and I forgot that those numbers are with the bags dumped
I think you could get away with 6" to the ground with the bags dumped

I have been wanting to do the same and my biggest question is also where to mount the rams?
my thought is two in the front near the front tire/front axle area and then in then 2 in the rear near drive axle.. my thought is since the wheels are the only thing touching the ground in that area then the rams should be fine also
my thought was to mount a plate in place of the round retainers that hold the suspension rods. That would be 4, 3/4 bolts per jack and the shear strength for a grade 2 is more than the bus weight, let along 4 grade 8 bolts per jack this is for the rear only
Does know one on here have an MCI with leveling jacks installed that could post some pics?

hi BRUISER I see that you are into offroading that was the main reason we got the bus here is a pic of use getting ready to leave for brimstone
I would go with one ram in the middle of the front bay, and one on each side of the rears near the jacking points. That way you don't torque the bus as it goes up - with four rams it is guaranteed to not go up level and square.

4 jacks would be just fine with most of the modern leveling system controls now a days. The modern hydrualic systems always operate 2 jacks at a time so it would not be capable of twisting or torquing the bus. The only way to operate a single jack independently is to enter installer programming mode which you can not do by accident, you gotta know what you're doing to get there.
Scott You should have crawled under HUGGY at Arcadia. She has 4 hydraulic jacks under her. been that way for about 15 years
not twisted into yet. I am not much on pictures much less posting them.
