Next month we are taking the bus to Albuquerque to have the roof sprayed with bed liner ? is would it look better with just the flat part covered or bring it down to the drip line.
The roof will be white I am thinking about doing the ac shrouds with the same material in a black or would white look better ? I need to buy 1 new shroud before I spray then I will never need to buy shrouds again the liner material will make those last for ever.
Thanks John 316 and Steve for the bus the rust area is repaired and we are remodeling from the kitchen back only the dash and the door is going to be upgrade at the front
sounds good I would do it all the same in white so it all blends in and ya to stopping at the drip edge

A couple of thoughts. If you do it all of the way down to the drip line you will probably never have a leak in the roof and the roof will stay cooler in hot weather. Doing the shrouds in black would probably make for a nice contrast to the white. However, in hot weather they will be absorbing heat and since that is when you would be running the ac it might make your ac have to work a little harder to shed heat? Could possibly affect the lifespan of the ac.? Maybe not an issue? Right now looking out my window i can see 3-4 rvs that have black units on the roof,....new trend? Have only noticed this in the last couple of years.
I would use a paint called rust bullet before the bed liner is put down
No expense was spared with insulation on this bus it can set in the sun all day without AC and always be 15 to 20 degrees cooler on the inside than the outside temperature only heat comes from the windshields

Clifford agree with ed on drip line and i would personally do the AC's in same as roof white only because I would not want to draw attention to all those AC's but let them blend in. Sounds like you guys are having fun with it!..... ;D

I agree ^^ I can show you a photo of a white coach with a black shroud. I don't care for it much. Of course, I'm talking about my own coach..if that says anything lol.

These are Penguins the shroud is not very tall and don't cover the entire unit like yours Scott,it has 5 but I plan on removing 1 as I am running lines to the existing dash air left in place
Time to pass on the keys. Nov 2009 (not me) does that sound familiar ? Yet 5 yrs later we are getting a roof coated? I'm still looking for that burst of energy. Glad to hear it. Bob
LOL I did pass those keys,this is not my idea believe me Bob I just do as the lady says if I knew in advance this was going to happen I would have kept the one I had.
I don't miss the bus gig for a RV the Trek does fine for me on a river in Idaho but now it is what it is if I don't run out of time ;D
Down to drip line and white shroud.
I have always coated my AC shrouds in the hope that they would last forever. I think it really did extend their lifespan but they did eventually get brittle and needed to be replaced this year. They were old when we got the bus about 10 years back. These units are the really high Colemans. The shrouds come in OEM, but we got the ones branded as Tuffmax (which is owned by Coleman). I spoke to a techi at Coleman about painting the Tuffmax shroud, and he advised me against it! He said that that particular shroud had double the required UV protection and was guaranteed for life anyway. He warned me that there was a good possibility that standard paints would peel and that only a multi part automotive paint would hold to that plastic. I mention this because it may be worthwhile to check with the shroud manufacturer about such characteristics on the ones you are using.
^ that's some good info right there. Had no idea. Better yet cliff, basement air :) anyone successfully using mini splits without line fittings vibrating loose?

My shrouds are made of fiberglass not plastic,Scott if the AC's weren't already installed and ducted I would probably bite the bullet and go with 4 Cruise Air units
Clifford, do you have pictures of frame repair? Did you cut them open and box/reinforce them? What did you find? Just curious as to "how" you did it. This might help folks who want to buy 102DL's...
Yea I did Mark it wasn't that bad they rust in about the same place a Prevost does by rear axle and tag where it goes from S/S to steel tubing.
The killer is that piece of siding 27 inches wide x 40 ft long I have it back on but have a small wrinkle I have work on plus I have a few cracks and 1 rust area on the engine frame to repair a couple of days work when I remove the 60 series to fix a few oil leaks and replace the bull gear
LOL owning Eagles for years there wasn't that much rust most of it SS.I can see why the air bag went through the floor those mounts are made of paper thin steel I am going to replace those with 1/4 inch like Sam did when he repaired the air bag that came through the floor.All in all it's good solid bus I love the way it drives and rides
