I was working on the Humvee's today and found out they have a dual volt alternator 1 has Niehoff N1224-1-14/28v @ 140/260 amps the other a Niehoff N1228-1-14/28 @ 60/140 amps.
I checked the voltage on the terminals as marked on the alternators 14/28V and they do put out 14/28V, depending on the price it might save you the trouble and hassle of using 2 separate alternators for your conversion just passing it on fwiw

I'd better get three while they're such a deal.

Wow that is a hefty price but the way DC is selling off all the old military equipment it won't be long before Ebay is flooded with military parts ;D I know where 2 of the alternators will be for sale a lot cheaper than 2800 bucks

There are some available used for $700+ used but condition... an internet search guru such as myself will find one...cept i have no use for one...
I found some new military surplus in Utah for 800 bucks each with the hinge bracket, for what engine the bracket was for he had no idea
they are used in deuce 1/2's I know
...40 years ago those were a multi fuel Continental Motors Company, Hercules, or White Motor Company. It is an in-line, 478-cubic-inch (7.8 L), six cyl.... have no clue what inem today...
Considering we're selling new alternators for about a buck an amp, that's pretty pricey. The biggest alternator I've seen is on 3 axle tractors (military). Use non certified Series 60's and have 400amp alternators @ 28vdc. That works out to be 11,200 watts! Could run a house with them. Our cost on those-$5,600! Nice to know where our tax dollars go. Good Luck, TomC
