Title: 4104 steel wheels
Post by: pennuja on May 05, 2015, 10:25:20 AM
I am going to order some new steel wheels for my bus and I want to make sure that I get the correct ones. I cannot find a dealer near me so I am going to have them shipped and don't want to have to return them.

I am looking at Accuride model 27404W rims, are these the correct ones for the 4104? I am also interested in the difference between the 2 hand holds vs the 5 hand holds (besides the obvious), I think the 5 may look nicer but it is hard to tell in the catalog if it will fit.

Here is the page that I am referring to, it is tough to tell on their pdf but it looks like it says that there might be a clearance issue on some older buses. Does anyone have any experience with using the 27833C on a 4104?

Makes no difference about the hand holes the 5 hand holes help cool the drums faster and C are the better wheels as they balance those are did in the past.Read the manual and try to buy the offset recommended in the manual for your bus

I have 4 brand new 8.25x22.5 rims. They are rated at 7300lbs.  I don't know how to tell if they are hub piloted or stud piloted.  They have 5 vent holes not 2.  Since my bus is a MC7 I assume they were for that and that would tell us what type they are.  They have never had a tire on them.

I would love to get them out of the barn, if you can use them, make me an offer.  Shipping would be a challenge but I could strap them to a pallet.

Bruce,if the wheels have a taper on the studs holes you have stud pilot if flat it will be hub pilot wheels fwiw

Clifford, thank you. always an education from you, now I know!  These have a taper on both the inside and outside of the stud hole so they are stud piloted.  Photos below.

Hey Bruce

If Pennuja passes on your wheels, I would be interested. I need another set for my other Scenic. Are you guys coming West at all this year? Take care

Tom
