Hey all,
I have been told a number of times that people keep getting booted out of the chatroom after only a few minutes.
I have been working on this problem from the view point that it may be something to do with the users settings, since others don't ever get booted.
What I have found so far is that if I use W2K pro, I have no problems, with Win 98 I get booted occasionally, (possibly from errors in the software).
With WinXP Pro I would get booted every 10 minutes or less, pretty consistantly. No matter what browser I was using it was the same.
I tried a lot of different settings, but the one that seems to do the most good is to turn off "Windows Firewall"
I can now stay logged into the chatroom almost constantly, up to the limit of the timeout settings and vasriabilities of errors in information transfer.
You can turn off Windows Firewall by going to:
Start:
Control Panel:
Windows Control Panel.
Click on the General Tab and select "OFF"
I hope this helps.

Dallas,
Is That The CHAT CAT
or is he the brains behind your talents?
It would take more than that to give me any talent.
Probably a whole herd of cats wouldn't help.

Its a good theory Dallas and it may solve problems for some but I run only W2K and I get booted - not regularly but often enough that you have seen it happen.
Bob,
With W2K try making the Temp Internet files cache smaller.
Other problems may be related to the error packets tranferred by your ISP.
None of it is a guaranteed fix... after all, when Al Gore invented the internet, he didn't make it fool proof.
Yes Bob but getting booted keeps you on your toes
