Title: Changing the air filter in a Power Tech Generator
Post by: flynbanjo on March 31, 2015, 04:22:43 PM
Would anyone have the secret decoder ring for changing the air filter on a 12 KW powertech generator in its own enclosure.  I have the holes cut in floor of the bus to access the filter  area.  It looks like it should be as simple as releasing a couple of clips on outside of the filter housing but there is not enough room inside the generator to release the clips.

If it is anything like the 8KW you almost have to unbolt the filter housing to replace the filter.  I remember it was a royal pain to change the air filter on mine.

Unbolting the entire housing is what it looks like to me.  I was hoping there was some super secret that would make the project alot easier.

Now you know why I buy a bare genset and make my own generator cabinet. On my bus, I have both a remote radiator and remote air cleaner. Very easy to service. My generator sits next to the driver's seat like a front engine, but faces backwards. Easy to service from the top. Only thing is you have to do it inside the bus. It was initially installed with a cherry picker through the front door. Good Luck, TomC
