Hey guys just curious as to what you guys do when your bus needs and bath and you are out on the road?
Truck washes like Blue Beacon if you can find them. Some RV parks will throw a fit if you wash your rig - others couldn't care less - always need to ask first. Some parks have roving crews of Mexicans who will wash for a ridiculously low amount.
I go for the portable guys just as cheap as the truck washes and they do it by hand with no acid like the Streaking(Blue) Beacon,acid washes are tough on aluminum sided buses us Eagle people dodged those but if your siding is in a mess now it cannot do anymore damage
The Mexicans in Indio (Elite) hand wash including roof, blow dry and towel finish, detail tires, all in 20 minutes for $65.00. And they bring their no spot RO water with them. I use those guys every winter and I'm fussy. No way on truck stops for me.
On long trips I have always stumbled across someplace to get a wash, and most importantly for me, get the oil off the rear. My paint is falling off so I am not as picky as some on where I go. It will surprise you what you will find when you start looking. I have found large wash bays in the middle of nowhere.

My life expectancy isn't long enough to even consider washing my bus.
Some charter bus companies will wash and service outside buses for a fee. When I was at Brewster's out of Banff, Alberta, our buses were cleaned inside and out at the end of each day, fueled up, etc, by a special crew. A lot of out of town buses with foreign tour groups would pay to have their buses done at Brewster's in Banff, Lake Louise, Jasper, Calgary or Edmonton. When on the road, we would clean our own buses inside every night, and when necessary, would go to a local bus company to wash, dump the can, etc. So what I am saying is, if you can't find a wash anywhere, you could look up the local bus companies and ask if they would take your bus in. I usually don't wash it until I get home, unless I am going to a rally and have to look presentable...

Very funny JC that 5 always looks like it just rolled off the show room floor,fwiw any truck wash here in AZ can only use soap and water no acid at truck washes our water takes care of that part with our water and acid add it would dissolve your bus ;D
Spent 4 hours hand washing mine in Florida one time,And once it dried spent another 4 hours and 75 bucks gettin all the grey film and water marks off it.(that will learn me) ;D...George.

I have a brush on an extendable handle and use the wash and wax in a bucket of water. It dries relatively spot free and I can do a side of the bus per bucket of water. I've done this in roadside rests, truck stops, on the street by a city park, where ever I won't draw a lot of attention. Only takes about 30 minutes to do the whole thing and uses less than 8 gals of water with no wiping. Rain leaves more spots than the wash and wax. Simonize tire shine works great on all the rubber trim including the bumper that runs around the body. It has UV inhibitors and lasts for quite a while. HTH
