I have a DD 8v92 TA. Three weeks ago I lost the left hand pipe that feeds from the exhaust manifold up to the turbo, and lost half my boost. It had rusted out around the upper flange. Fortunately another pipe was located nearby, quickly installed, and all was well.
Yesterday I was cruising along doing 70 and noticed a sudden increase in exhaust noise. No loss of boost or power. Upon examination I found that the outflow pipe from the turbo to the muffler pipe had pulled free. It seems to have two or three piston-type rings remaining on the turbo attachment point, as part of the joint. Is there a technique for reattaching this? Not your usual spring clamp I see on many exhaust connections.
Any advice or insight would be appreciated!

There is a tool to put those back together with but with 4 hands you can compress it and install back ? did you lose the keeper
Clifford,
I'll have to go up to the staorage yard and check for the 'keeper' you mention - what does it look like?

It looks like there is a butt on the female side of this connection that has a threaded hole. This appears to accommodate a set screw of sorts. This would appear to keep things together because the screw would ride against a slight flange in the mating pipe.
Am I right about this?
If so, what size is the screw, and is SS all right?
