I blew the engine (8V71) on my 1975 MC8 Bus Conversion. Am looking for a rebuilt one or a good running one to replace it. The bus is located in Bakersfield CA. Hopefully I can find one in that area, but I am facing a deadline and am willing to have it shipped. Would appreciate any info on where I can find one from a source I can trust, as I live a long ways from Bakersfield. We have used our bus for 16 years. It is a great conversion and in beautiful shape after all these years. We want to keep it. I am an evangelist and live in it during revivals in various churches (www.revelation-now.com (http://www.revelation-now.com)). Not many problems over that time. Time is of the essence since we have a revival booked in the Rapid City SD area in April. Would definitely any help.
Thank you
Jac

If you travel a lot, have you asked yourself whether an 8v92ta would be a better swap? It would be a little more fuel hungry but it would give you a lot better performance, particularly climbing hills, etc. You might also think about a "World" transmission (if you're going to change), with an easy add-on throttle modulator, you could go to an Allison B400. 6 speeds and lock up to get your fuel mileage back.

it would also complicate your cooling ... in most cases...

And electrical stuff, and shifter, etc. -- but I'd do it, in spite of the fact that it would take a good bit of modifications.
He shouldn't have much trouble finding a 6V92TA on a MCI cradle they have about the same heat rejection as the 8V71 N/A with more power and better fuel mileage than a 8v71.The 8v92 is a major ordeal to stuff into a MCI 8

Thanks for all the input. Very helpful. I have a couple of possible options now. But appreciate any more thoughts.
Another option would be a turbo 8v71 or putting a smoke turbo on a plain one before install.
