Title: MCI Steering column replacement
Post by: berrybus on February 17, 2015, 09:39:15 PM
On my MCI bus conversion, I am hoping to use R & M fiberglass dash and control panel, what do others use for their steering column replacement, or are you able to use your current steering wheel and column?  We have an R & M fiberglass 3 faced or sided panel, and our current steering column (original to the MCI9) does not fit the panel, do you notch the panel, or change the steering column, if so, what did you replace the MCI steering column with?  Any pictures would be very helpful! Not sure how to proceed.
Thanks, Jim

I'm going to do the same thing in our Eagle. Not sure at this point what I will do.

Surely somebody has done this.... MCI people, help this guy out!  ;D

I used a Peterbilt tilt column assembly to do mine. I had to shorten the output shaft from the steering head to the steering box, and I believe I inverted the Peterbilt head. I still have to make a new shroud for cosmetics, but it works well. I'm sure there are better ways (there always are) but mine cost less than $75.
