I have a Proheat x45 that I got for my bus...but as I am not using my bus I decided to use it in my van this winter, a little VW 5 cyl diesel and the Proheat is way over kill, warms the hole system in maybe 10 mins at minus 15C. It turns out this was more than worth the trouble. Initially I installed it because it takes forever to warm up that little diesel and the only way to do it is driving. Also winter starts are a breeze with that high milage engine now that it is pre warmed. The real pay off was when the diesel pump/distributor went bad a few weeks ago. My van won't fit in my garage, there is nobody I can trust to work on this van as they are a little rare, and it was cold outside. So I changed the pump outside, still a little cold on the knees even when knealing on pads etc....but generally my hands were fine, even in the later stages during priming when they were soaked in diesel.
FWIW the proheat works well in general, after the initial install I had to clean the orifice/venturi/jet assembly which I imagine was some smutz that got in the fuel/air during assembly, but since then it is rock solid, and with a little 24/7 timer to run it this winter has been a little easier. when it is really cold outside it sometimes stumbles a little as it warms up but otherwise it burns very clean, with no odor, compared to my van anyhow.
Am not familiar with the Proheat system but do have the Aqua Hot 600 D setup, it is also tied into the engine coolant system and will preheat the engine and coach very nce / comfy in an hour if out side temps are in the teens. Easy system to enjoy, just has a terrible price to purchase & have installed, yes would do it again.

Not much difference in the ProHeat and Webasto used by Aqua/Hot, the Oasis the Aqua/Hot equal uses the ProHeat burner
The Big NO-NO with the Aqua Hot, do not let the fresh water side freeze up, or you can destroy the system, the heating side/engine side, both have antifreeze but not the fresh side. Why I leave mine turned on (electric) even while in the garage, for two reasons, I like the warm inside and of course the fresh water with out fear of freezing.
The system uses 4 adjustable thermostats plus either keep engine warm OR use the hot water from engine to heat the Aqua Hot, either way, a easy system to like.
The other is very quiet and so far odor free, that is the big surprise.

I love my Webasto Scholastic diesel fired heater (DBW 2010), but in 10-12 years I have had to repair it a few times. They make an diagnostic reader for it, but I could never justify the price of the tool versus individually testing out the system. The last time it wouldn't fire I figured it was the controller, but when I replaced it without results I keep testing and figured out it was the flame sensor.

Geoff,
That is why
I take mine to the Aqua Hot shop yearly, first, it s munted in a nearly impossble hle n front bay, I am too old & rigid to even get to it, so am dependant on youbg fellers. Why
I just purchased the newest model, had the Forrtravel factory install including total rewire as different control system, all including motel, fuel etc, $15,000. About like a twin airplane.
