Yesterday sucked, changing a fuel distributer/pump....trying to keep clean but the stink is on me. Some of you may consider this a fine perfume but not SWMBO, even though to my nose the new low sulphur diesel smells better. SHowering and soap seem to get rid of most of it but I'm thinking there may be a trick....also I'm concerned that if I wash my diesel soaked gear in the washing mashing the stink may transfer to the next load.
My trick is a can of regular Coca-Cola in the wash load with the detergent and Zep Cherry Bomb hand cleaner. Hard to find but it sure works for me.
Had a leak in fuel pump on Aqua Hot in bay. Wife smelled it first. Got it fixed and went though 2 cases of Brake Cleaner spray and finally got IT (smell) gone after about a year. Almost lost wife a couple times beside rode as she was a gripping every time we went somewhere.
As for me, Diesel and burnt Nitro smell like Heaven. Fire might remove smell from clothes. Don't recommend it for skin!
Any tips for getting the diesel stink off me ? .... yup....
rub gear oil, (90 wt.) on your hands and boots :D
How do you get rid of the 90wt smell?

Back to the fire again.
No problemo-----------it washes right off-----------with diesel!
Back when I was younger I used to work for a paving company an we used diesel to clean up everything at the end of the day. (including ourselves!)
My mom hated the smell of diesel and was always complaining I was ruining her washer. So she made me quit doing my own laundry and she did it using a cup of GOOP an a 1/2 cup of baking soda in my work clothes.
Never had the smell when putting on clean work clothes again!
;D BK ;D
I use Borax
Ahh ... memories of diesel fuel stink, dirty parts cleaner cleaning solvent smell, the perfume of 90 weight gear oil, stale beer odors and country music. The memories of that perfect man cave DD engine swapping hobby garage. Long ago and far away. Just me. HB of CJ (old coot) :) :)

Gasoline?
And naptha to get rid of the gasoline smell, and acetone to get rid of the naptha smell, and isopropyl alcohol to get rid of the acetone smell, and . . .
Just burn 'em.

Not sure how to get the diesel smell off. I guess I just put up with it until it goes away.
I did watch the Man Show one time and they were explaining how to get the perfume smell off yourself when you have been out to the strip club all night. They explained that after your visit to the strip club. You simply stop by the gas station and spill gas or diesel fuel on yourself. Your wife will not be able to smell the perfume. LOL ;) ;)

Orange Goop for skin then wash with dish soap, gone. Like Clifford said Borax work well also. Laundry Borax powder, or Goop and lemon juice, or Washing Soda.

Borax sounds like a possibility although I have not tried it. I have used a combination of baking soda and oxiclean to get rid of a cat urine smell in a carpet. Diesel should not be more persistent than that.
Vinegar works good in the bath tub but I don't how you could do it in shower
Like heavy rubber gloves and full face and eye protection. Also hearing protectors when around big noise ... like screaming 2 stroke Detroits on the dyno and such. But ... we did not at a younger age. Oh well. HB of CJ (old coot) I also forgot the smell of hot metal and the sound of arc welders ... and the feeling of money running out of our wallets. :)
In the 38 years I've been in the trucking industry, THEE best degreaser is Oil Eater-period. Good Luck, TomC

I have had good results with:
- wash hands( i like a good oil based soap or lava soap)
rub baby oil on hands
wash hands again
If you don't want to buy baby oil you can make your on and squeeze them yourself. :D :o
thanks for the tips...Pumps in and the smell is almost gone.
heard of sugar soap?
