Today I was doing some maintenance on my bus and looking at things I had not looked at or noticed before. I found that the flexible pipe that is used on my exhaust was broken. I do not know if this is original or jerry rigged. I was going to get the asbestos tape and wrap all the pipes talked about on another thread but decided to wait now till I find out if I need to replace this or just wrap it. also is that factory or not?
If it is circular metal flex, then replace it. You might need to use a air powered chisel to get the ends off. Once that is done just measure what you need and reinstall with stainless stretch straps covering the ends. Good Luck, TomC
Large dia. Stainless Steel flexible pipe are available at large (class 8) truck parts store nearest you. Have them cut to your request length & buy 2 clamps.

Hello Capt'n
No flex pipe in a stock MCI exhaust.
Where is it?
The stock from MCI exhaust is not cheap, somewhere over US$1500 manifolds to tailpipe, including the muffler and the cursed cast "collector pipe".
There is absolutely nothing wrong with fabricating your own less expensive solutions to noise suppression and exhaust gas directing to the rear...

The flex pipe is where the exhaust turns to go toward the muffler. it goes straight down by bumper then curves to go to muffler
Wow, looks like the part I need is on E-bay right now MCI PART # 8L-20-97 Can any body check to see if this is a proper part # for my exhaust please?
could some one look at this and tell me if it is the right part for my exhaust?

Turns out it's not the bent or curved peice thats bad just this strait section. Which I think will be an easy fix.
Hello Capt'n
Unless you are running dual exhaust, that one pipe is smaller than the one in that location on mine. I'm running the 8V71 and all 8 cylinders are into the pipe at that point.
happy coaching!
