Please humor my conjured up thoughts. If I wanted my tag on my MCI 9 to look like this and match the drive axle, could I merely flip it inside out?

I don't think that will work, Scott.
Presently your tag tire straddles the 2 duals, it doesn't follow the inside dual. I think if you flipped the wheel and remounted it, the tag would have an even wider track than the duals.

Interesting. Ok. I thought it tracked nearly center but I never paid any attention to how it would line up if flipped around

You'd have to spend some serious $ to make it work!
You'd either have to have the axle cut down (hubs moved inboard), or buy expensive off set wheels just for the tag!
; BK ;D
PS if you ever get a chance to meet Sonny Gray aka Cat Skinner checkout his Eagle! He had a custom tag axle built to do exactly that!
You have to watch the offset so not to overload one of the bearings. Good Luck,TomC
Scott that was a good question, having semi trucks I've often looked at my tag with the same thoughts that you have, would like tag duals vs singles, just looks better

Ok. I hadn't thought about the bearings. I'll check out sonnys coach. Curious for sure BK
I agree, I think it looks nicer

Rather then flipping-put a super single on. You'll have to get a wider wheel, but that would also look cool. Good Luck, TomC
Or you could buy an old Crown Supercoach 40 foot ex schoolie with the tandem drive with 8 rear wheels and tires. Even had an inter axle drive shaft. The only problem would be making sharp tight turns all the time as you can actually feel the tires grabbing.
When that cool inter axle differential is lock ed up you can actually drive onto and enjoy the beach ... along as long as the sand is firm. My computer isacting strange ... it will not let me correct or back space. Sorry. HB of CJ (old coot) Also the dre rear whells and tires tend to get flats more. expensive.
Do not kow hwat is wrong with my compouter. sory.
Driving my truck with tandem drive rear wheels compared to driving my 2 axle bus-they definitely turn differently. With the bus, you wait to clear the corner then swing hard right. With the truck you start turning the wheel right when the front tire clears the corner. If you wait like the bus, you won't make the turn-mainly because of difference in wheel cut. My bus has 55 degrees of wheel cut, my truck only has 36 degrees. Yet, I don't have too many problems driving the truck-mainly because I'm used to it. Good Luck, TomC
