Title: Futureliner again
Post by: 34kw on December 30, 2014, 02:07:54 PM
Yahoo reports that one of two restored Futureliners will cross the Barret-Jackson Auction block in Phoenix, AZ on Jan 13. I'll be in AZ anyway, so it might be fun to see it sell.

I still say the Futureliner is one ugly bus, but you know the saying about being happy for the rest of your life.

I agree about the ugly but I've never seen it in person. I'm sure it's about the same.

I have never seem a reason for one, they are about the most unusable thing ever built.

Bear in mind that the Futurliner wasn't a bus and was never intended to be one. And it wasn't intended to be a truck either, at least in the general-cargo carrying sense. It was what it was - a custom exhibition vehicle which was never intended to be sold to the public or used for any other purpose. Whether it was 'ugly' or not is debateable - I think they're really cool in a crude 1950s Flash Gordon kind-of way. Many radical concept vehicles could be argued to be 'ugly' because they are by definition very different from what is considered normal design

I can't see the Futureliner selling for anything close to what it sold for the last time.

I would like to have Ron's 1929 Indian Motorcycle and the service stations that intrigues me more than anything he has in his collection

I wonder if he's figured a way to get it out of the divorce arrangments?  He doesn't get to keep it but maybe she doesn't get it either?
