Title: What is the problem with the original bathrooms in coaches
Post by: skloon on December 22, 2014, 02:22:56 PM
I know they are too small and only have the toilet but I am looking at a number of coaches- identical except that some have restrooms and some do not, can the existing facilities be adapted or is it simply scrap >

Yeah, scrap.  They're "industrial" - they are made for a 4-6 hour run between terminals, they require servicing with chemicals, they're cranky and ugly.  By FAR, the best thing is to scrap them out and put in a comfortable home-style toilet, wash basin, and shower.  You'll need fresh water (tank, pump, and piping) for your kitchen sink anyway; just run water to the bathroom with drain pipes to a "holding tank".  It all works together.  You'll be glad you did.

If you have a choice between with or without and everything else is the same.  Go for the ones without the lav!!  So far it is the hardest and nastiest thing I have tackled.

Ditto, think toilet in a forest park campground, not a 3ft drop,  a 1ft drop, the wife won't like it, no way to conceal it,  worst thing to take out of your bus, get one without it if you can, even the pros hate to take it out, lvmci...

And to think,  I did mine without pulling the AC compressor first.  I figured that i wanted that tank out of the way to get to the compressor.

I still have the lav in my bus, and I'm keeping it.  I'm putting in a shower with toilet so it'll be 1.5 bathrooms.  We are a "blended" family and very often have our 6 kids plus 2 or 3 of their friends!  Let me tell you, the second toilet and sink is needed!  Generally, no one does number "2" in it unless it's an emergency......... but you can if you need to!
