Title: DD671 on my 4104 Oil Leak
Post by: siberyd on December 17, 2014, 02:40:29 PM
I have an oil leak coming from the oil drain plug at the bottom of the pan. Does this have an easy solution or am I going the have to remove the pan and have something fixed?

Its a minor leak, but when it comes to an oil leak, it is not so minor in my book.

Did it just start leaking?

I recommend installing a new seal ring the next time you change the engine oil.  I've seen cracked threads which will cause a leak, but that was the result of the pan hitting a rock.

My drain is a pipe thread, so if I had a leak I would put teflon thread on it, or pipe dope.  It doesn't leak so I don't.
