I live in Texas, 1000 miles away from where I am going to inspect/buy a bus.
It is around 45 to 50 miles from Lakeland, Florida and I am due there next week around Monday or so, to inspect it and buy it.
I am so nervous over this bus that I can't express my worry.
If I knew before hand, the condition of the Eagle 05 bus, I could perhaps save that long journey or go there with confidence.
I would pay, too.
Thank you.
Ros
The rally in Arcadia is at the end of Dec.
Ace lives IN LAKELAND and has offered to go check it out for you.
As a plus Ace's first bus was an Eagle so he has experience with them.
Ace has looked at buses for/with others and is pretty good at it also. Even when inspecting a Setra that he's never even thought about before with a little conversing on the phone while inspecting he was able to do a top notch job and let the buyer know it was in fact worth coming from MN to FL to buy it! (took a few mins to get him familiar with some of Setra's quirks but in no time he was comfortable with what he was doing and did a damn fine job of letting us know what was what!)
But that said you need to let him know a city or location better than 45-50 miles FROM Lakeland.
;D BK ;D
Ros I live in Winter Haven I own an Eagle I could go and check it out for you too. If you want my mechanic to go with you to check the Eagle I can ask him. He knows Eagles inside and out. Here is my cell# 863 585 1037
Hi, BK.
Thanks for the information. I already found someone: John Silver of Central Florida Bus in Lakeland. He is going Friday or Saturday.
He said 'he doesn't need no steenkin town or address' as he can sniff Eagles out.
One thing that really bothers me is that I just got some pictures of the bays yesterday and I see that one of seems to have 2x4s shoring up the bay ceiling.
I will try to post a picture and, is this common to Eagles?
Thanks.

Thank you, BusCrazy.
That is very generous of you but, see my other post where I say that I have already found someone.
I will keep your number just in case.

Don't waste your time and money looking at that one the cross braces are missing and flip the picture over the way you have it the top is supposed to be the floor
Eagles have a truss at each end of the bays and one that divides the bays and go across the full width of the bus, that one is in sad shape keep looking
Hi, Clifford.
I was hoping that you would see and comment on this beast.
The picture reversed itself somehow when I posted it.
Within reason, is there nothing done to rectify this situation? I suppose that I should stop the fellow going to inspect it and get my money back for that, eh, what?
Thanks for your advice.

I flipped it in case anyone else was going cross eyed too. ;)

Those 2x4s are too short to be supporting the floor. It looks like some sort of platform. The area below it (pictured) is open storage space and the area above it could be for water tanks, mechanical etc.
It would be highly ineffective as a floor support anyway. The interior floor and walls hold the bay up, not the other way around.
If the bay cross braces are missing, the interior floor will loose some of its rigidity along the center walkway and the bay floor will have a tendency to sway left and right independent of the walls.
Your call on if you want to have it inspected. The owner removed the tag axle. Who knows, maybe he reworked the bay frame too.
Edit: This is a picture of the missing cross members. It is possible the cross members are just out of view of the camera. Notice the direction of the grooves in the bay floor.

Hey, Ken.
Thanks for the tip. I intend to follow up on it tomorrow when I can call him.
I can't pay his price but he did say "make an offer"

those 2x4's are too short to be "shorring" up anything...
it appears to me that there is a split level/divided bay...
reason...I don't know..
Well, BusCrazy, here we are again.
Since I have already emailed John Silver to not go to inspect the bus AND, having looked at more pictures of the bays and having Eagle1992 comment on the bus AND AWAITING Clifford's comments on the new pictures, I may be calling you to look at the bus.
Everything is contingent on everything esle......... ;D
