Amen Bro! Thanks for the post!
On a shared day of respect, here's to all present and past!
Absolutely! Thank you to all vets and those currently serving, for all you've done.
Thanks, and from one vet to all the others, thanks
Just got back from attending our town's Remembrance Day ceremony. Kind of Veteran's Day and Memorial Day rolled into one. It brought back many memories, from the funeral service committing my mother in law to the sea from our last surviving WWII warship in Halifax Harbour two years ago, to when I was serving in the Reserves and would participate in firing the 21 gun salute on Parliament Hill in Ottawa each year. Always nice to take a moment to honour those who served and who serve today.
This year was particularly poignant as we also remember the young soldier killed just weeks ago by a terrorist while guarding the National War Memorial in Ottawa.

I reread again the journal of my french great uncle who spent 4 1/2 years in the trenches of N.E. France as a machine gunner. His last entry was May 11 1918. Then there is a letter from his superior to the mayor of his small town asking that his parents be notified of his death on May 17. So close to the end of the war... Other relatives never came home from WW2 either...
Thanks to all veterans, dead and alive.

Thanks to you all! I will repost this. I think it speaks to all of us.
Written by my friend John Harris
Some will never know
The price our brothers paid
We will never forget
Some want to protest
While we serve to protect
We must not forget
Some will try to ruin
The core of our beliefs
We shall not forget
Some will always lack
The heart to understand
What we will not forget
Some will always hate
The country that we love
How could we forget
Some will not come home
While others always suffer
A loss we won't forget
A brother a sister
A son or daughter
Who could ever forget
We will always know
What sacrifice was made
We will never forget!
