So are there any early arrivals there as yet?
If so ... about how many buses?
Who's there already?
Jerry H.
Hi Jerry,
Well, you know I'm close...[kissimee] but, I belive only Jim Shepard is and Jack Conrad will arrive on Christmas day.
I'll go over there next Wed.
Nick-
Actually Jim Shepherd is in Colorado, but his bus is at my place, along with Dave Lang's bus. Both are in storage at our place until next week when they return from Chirstmas visits. Ken Cropp's bus is also at our place until 12/26 when Ken is picking it up and heading to the Turner Center. Ray Edwards and Jim Robinson are also at our place. We are having a "BusNuts Christmas Dinner" at a friends place on Christmas along with several other BusNuts and then heading to the Turner Center. We have buses starting to arrive on Tuesday AM.
We have had a few cancellations, and have a had a few phone calls requesting to be added tot he roster. As of now, we have about 165 attending.
To all a MERRY CHRISTMAS from Paula and I. Jack
Yes, we returned to CO for Christmas with our Girls and their families (8 Grand Kids).
We sure wish we were in FL. We had 40 plus inches of snow a couple of days ago. Took almost a whole day to plow using my "Binder" tractor! We got caught in the snow while in Denver for Dental appointments and shopping. Made it to within a half mile of the house and then put our little PT Cruiser in the ditch (no damage). The sad part is that the 4 wheel drive is in FL (toad).
We can only hope that the airport gets somewhat back to normal when we travel back to Tampa/Arcadia on 12/27.
Happy Holidays to all!!!!! :) :) :)

Jack,
Is the attendance down from previous Bashes? Curious what past numbers looked like in comparison.

Jerry,
I had some trouble downloading pictures but, I think it's solved now.

Is that 165 coaches, or 165 people?
As of this morning 164 coaches. Last year t6he final count was 169. We always have a few arrived unannounced, so we expect to end up with about 170-175 coaches. 3 coaches, including ours came up to the Turner Center this morning. We then had a great Christmas dinner with several other busnuts at Ray & Sally's (the "Cat's Meow" Eagle). We are now back at the Turner Center. There are 3 busues sitting at WalMart waiting until tomorrow morning. Also 3 buses at Ray & Sally's that are coming up tomorrow morning. We expect about 30 buses tomorrow. Jack
Jack, Susan and I will be coming in around 1 pm with another ole' busnut in tow driving a good looking MC5. We're meeting up with him around 11:30 am here locally and then were on our way!
See ya'll then!
Ace, Susan, & Bud
WOW...165 coaches.....I know it will be as much fun as years past...........I hope the volunteers really pitch in & help Jack out - Nice to have Nick, Ray & Jim there early..........I don't want to see Paula or Jack to get over worked. I can remember a few years back when Paula was in the hospital on the first day of the rally for exhaustion.........Please help out if you can...& MAKE Jack sit down for (10) minutes at least once a day............
Thanks
Rich
Arcadia -- Curious -- Who's There? Not me >:(
I arrived at the Rally about 3:00pm today. Seems to be about 40 or so coaches here so far.
It looks like a great rally place for busses.... Very large fairgrounds, and Clean.
Nick-
Hey All --
Linda, Kids, In-Laws & Myself arrived in Lady Lake, FL about 3:30 PM today (left PA @ 1:30 PM yesterday). Uneventful trip to this point -- rain, that was about it. Traffic not so bad via I-95, not even in and around D.C. (a first).
Stayed at the Flying J in Latta, SC last night. They had the best price in diesel thus far @ $2.379.
Bill & Roberta G. (homegrowndiesel) -- we left your tel #'s home in the typical rush to exit the abode. My cell is 267-614-2936.
Jack C. -- I cannot find an itinerary online here (esp. w/ slow connection speed). Mind you, I am using a Commadore 64 connected to a strip and tin can as I have no WiFi for my laptop. Trying to determine which day to come down as our plans change by the hour. We either drive down (about 3-hrs) on the eve of the 27th, stay @ Wal-Mart and then arrive in the AM on the 28th, stay at rally one night (28th), depart late in the day on the 29th. Or do arrive Wal-Mart on 28th, Rally 29th sleep over and depart late on the 30th. It's hinged on activities, who's there, etc., etc.
Cannot stay more time due to committments with family members here in Lady Lake, trying to spread out the time as best as I can.
Please feel free to call me or leave message here and I'll check back after I stationary bike the electricity needed to power the computer and tap into the telephone pole!! :D

PS: I do have (1) copy of the Bus Makeover program w/ MAK and Walker on it. I brought 5 blank discs and will try to get copies made before arrival. It's short about 2 or 3 min. in the beginning, but has ALL of Walkers footage! :)
Ok, so we're a little closer. Will be in Lake City, FL by the end of today if all goes well. What is the best route for us to take from there and I'm wondering if I'm just not looking in the correct place to find directions to find the Turner Center. I found a general vicinty on the map programs, but I'm wondering if there is place that lists more info as far as the best way to come in and what we do exactly when we arrive. Thanks for your help, Christy
Hi Christy & Larry,
Take 75 south to tampa, just below Tampa Pick up 17 south. This takes you in to Arcadia then, in Arcadia, take 70 east for 1/4 mile, look for
bus signs with arrows pointing to the left. you will turn left at the Tractor Supply store. then 1/4 mile to Turner Ctr.
the rally is at TURNER AGRI-CIVIC CENTER. 2250 NE Roan St. Arcadia, FL 34266
Be Safe! Looking forward to meeting you both.
Nick & Michelle
So, is that better than jumping on the turnpike for a short time and then taking 19/33 down? I didn't know the state of the roads. Christy
Guys and Girls,
Take I-75 South. Below Tampa, (North of Sarasota), take hi-way 70 straight into Arcadia.
Good road all the way.
Be Safe,
Bill
In Winter Haven, Florida
Christy, you'll make better time on I-75. The other route will take you into congestion in the Auburndale/Lakeland area and then you'd have to slow down through all the little towns along the way.
Thanks, Linda, that's exactly what I was wondering. :D
I kept looking at the map and seeing a straight shot down from Lake City, avoiding a major urban area on what could have been a Friday afternoon (if Larry hadn't turned out to be such a driving fool and hanging in there for more miles a day than I anticipated ;D ). On the other hand, we did have to drive state roads in Louisianna for a little while, and although it cut at least 50 miles or more off our trip, it was rough and slow-going through all those small towns. Also, having driven places like LA and Houston, and many, many times through Dallas, (which is bumper to bumper even on slow days :P ), well, let's just say that we avoid congested big cities as much as possible. Larry says he faces enough challenges in his life that trying to find a 60' opening on Hwy 635 on a Friday afternoon just isn't his bag of tea! ;)
I figured someone from the area would have a better feel for whether it was worth dropping down through Winter Haven or not. You answered my question and I guess I'll make it easy on him and stick to Hwy 75. So, next question. . . does anyone know of a good truck/bus wash????? It's pretty bad when you have to put on rubber gloves just to open the car door! :D
