Title: V730 transmission
Post by: Purplewillie on October 15, 2014, 12:37:47 PM
I didn't want to hijack the other thread .
My 730 has an air line to the modulator that goes through the firewall . I have an air throttle. Does this modulator line go to the air throttle?
My trans works fine other than I can't get it to lock up in first gear.
I have tryed numerous times just as Tom says to. I lift my foot until I start to come off throttle. No lock up.
Where to from here?
What to check?
Thanks Mark

The modulator ties in between the pedal and control cylinder with a tee both lines need to be the same in length from the tee

Does the modulator control the lock up as well as the shifting?
Lock up works fine in second and third. Anything I should be checking other than line lenght?
I read on checking the modulator diaphragm, but I don't think that it's ruptured , as it doesnt blow any fluid out

Lockup is supposed to be automatic in all 3 gears if modulator pressure is set at 45 to 48 psi yours may have the optional setting of 33 to 36 PSI at closed throttle if so it won't lockup in 1st automatic, check the psi first at closed throttle and you should have a 0 psi at full throttle at the modulator
