Title: Bay Storage Spaces
Post by: eagle19952 on October 08, 2014, 08:30:19 AM
Curious and realistically..after all of your systems are in place, how much utilizable storage do you have left ?

My eagle has one and one half of the bays, or 50%.

I have normal floor height transit that has 22" height under floor. I have two compartments that I made available. One that is the entire width of the bus at 99" wide x 22" high x 66" long. I can crawl into it and is big enough for my two tool boxes, BBQ and stand, 12gal oil, 4 outside chairs, tent, extra filters, 3 orange cones, land line, rolls of carpet, etc. Then behind the right rear wheel is another small compartment that is 18" wide x 22" high x 24" deep that I keep my extra coolant, oil, crate with my overalls, air line, transfer pump, etc. While not as big as an over the road bus, also have 2-8D house batteries, 2-31 starting batteries, 85gal gray, 45gal black, 20gal propane, 130gal fuel, 10kw Diesel genset, sewer hose storage under floor.

My truck will have twice the storage along with carrying my car inside (because I can). Good luck, TomC

I also have 2 and a half open bays.
Rear bay has tanks and propane, then a wall and the house batteries. The rest is open storage.
I can't get the photos to appear here. You can see them at photobucket. Search for akroyaleagle if you want.

1 left 94" wide across width of bus 24 inch tall and doors on both sides 53 inch but inside is 86 inch wide including the doors. Being we only have 35 footer we have 2 bays. Other one has tanks batteries LP tanks and tools. Tool bay under driver is full of bus cleaners horns and filters needed.

When he was building his RTS, Gary Throneberry ("Garhawk") took the underfloor areas and built in wide storage bays with "desk drawer"-type slides.  Naturally, they were not as tall as a highway coach (more like 22-24") but they hold a *huge* amount of stuff and with the slide-outs, they're very accessible.  Transits are cool!

Ace-I'm SO looking forward to when I can use the truck. I like my bus, but just like the idea and design of the truck better. Good Luck, TomC

VERY nice, Joe.  Super looking slides.  As a recently-enrolled Medicare recipient (and looking down both barrels of sore back, and tender shoulders, creaky knees, etc.), the idea of storage with slides so that someone doesn't have to crawl around to access stored items or do maintenance/repairs on equipment is appealing!

Thanks Bruce!

These are KwiKee. I installed them before the internet. They work great and extend out 70% either side.

Knowing what I do now, I would have just made them. Lot cheaper and I have seen some great homemade ones.

I've been on Medicare several years, have both knees replaced, back broken twice (8 vertebras last time), 3 bones removed from left wrist and 1 from right thumb, both hips and both rotator cuffs need replaced also. That in addition to all the normal old guy things.

I've also got Polymyalgia Rheumatica. That's worse than all the others.

There's a lot of truth in "If I knew I would live this long, I would have taken better care of myself.)
