So we are back from our last trip in the bus. It has served us well, and we are ready to move it on. We will list it on Craigslist, and mcibustalk.com (http://mcibustalk.com). Any other ideas?
We are asking 25K for it. She has a long list of features. It is very livable, but still has quite a bit of fit and finish left (eg, plywood on the ceilings, and back walls). But the front is carpeted, has nice sofa's, cabinets, full size fridge, 7 bunks, queen bed, pull out couches, etc etc. I will put together a partial list of what we have into it below.
20KW Kubota Genset, in a quiet box, and has a Marathon head.
2 X 4,000 Watt Trace Inverters
6 X Trojan Deep Cell Batteries
Oasis hydronic heating system (diesel fired, like an Aqua Hot)
5 X 15,000 Due Therm Penguin AC's, that have never given us any trouble. They are ducted, and are thermostat controlled.
All oak cabinets
Peninsula Windows
4 X Flex Steel leather couches
1 X Flex Steel Leather shotgun seat
Spray Foamed (closed cell) insulation
200 gal of grey water
100 gal of black water (empty of course)
110 gal of fresh water (has a water meter to monitor usage)
Pex plumbing
"New" Rebuilt Allison B500 transmission
S60 Detroit Diesel
8in roof raise
All tanks have electric heat to them, and pipes are wrapped with electric heat tape. It was designed to go to northern Canada in the winter.
If we don't sell it, it will go to Sam Caylor to be scrapped.
Any ideas folks? I will add pictures tomorrow or Thursday.
Cheers,
John
I'll get it out on face book for you John heck of a deal for somebody ,Bobby Easter is on one of the F/B pages at that price he may buy it back ;D
Pictures? Pictures? and more Pictures?
Grant
Once having a bus conversion for 20 years, now trying to like the fancy store bought coach, while very nice, fine, comfy, dependable, it still does not provide the happy feelings I always had from the old MC7. Thinking I need to go back to a bus, maybe a Provost chassis if they are still all stainless.??
Dave M
Clifford, I would actually sell it back to him. He is welcome to it ;D
Grant, we are washing it, and cleaning it out today. You will have pics.
Dave, I agree. Stainless steel buses are great. However, we aren't traveling like we used to. Back to a van, trailer, and hotels :'(
Thanks
John, sent you a message. Thanks, Dennis

Thanks. Received and replied.
I forgot to say a few other features.
Full color backup camera.
Full size fridge/freezer
Full size sink
Honeycomb blinds in window boxes
Motorized windshield sun shades
And don't forget to mention that it trucks right along....a couple of years ago we were on I-40 and had just crossed into Texas headed east doing a comfortable 65-70 mph when they passed us and left us in their dust. ;D
Ed you should buy it, ha...

Nice bus John. Wish I had room for another cause that looks like a keeper. Good Luck and it will make somebody a nice set of wheels.

Yeah, great looking coach!
Is that 102" wide? 40 ft long?

All "D" MCIs are 102". DLs are 45' long. Since that's the way this coach is listed, I assume it's 45.
Nice looking bus.
Jim H
Thanks, guys. It is 102" wide, 45' long.
Somebody buy the bus it would be a shame to see Sam make a 45ft long X 3 ft thick piece steel of out of it and Sam enjoys his work it looks to me ::) park it on a lake or a mountain top and use it as cabin
John, any corrosion anywhere that's worth mentioning?

Scott,
Not on the exterior. The biggest issue is Sam Caylor said the main Ibeams that run front to back are starting to rust. He said depending on the climate, it probably has another four years left.
Thanks,
John
I remember when you found out about the corrosion in the main frame rails. I was actually really upset for you. I don't quite understand what the frame rails are, I don't know if my MCI MC-5C has them.
Brian
The D uses the integral construction like a Prevost and Eagles it has 2 beams that go from the front to the rear you can remove the siding inside and out, the floor and the roof and drive it
Clifford, assume (hope) the C series is not this way.?

Sadly, you are probably headed exactly for the exact same thing. Your only saving grace might be if it wasn't ever operated in the winter/wet/salt.
JC, i spent all of my money re-buying mine! ;D
The MC-5 I guess you remove the skins and the floors and the roof, it kind of sags in the middle and moans and drools... :o
Seriously, my biggest fear on my generation of bus is the air beam and it's supports into the frame. Sure you can plate the air springs, but the structure that they feed load into is pretty critical.

Thanks john. I was tempted because we want 45 feet and 102, but i really think a truck conversion may be in our future . Not sure tho
