This popped up on Search Tempest tonight. 2800 bucks for an MCI? Somebody save it!

Or how about this 4104 in FL for only 800 bucks?

That 4104 is in pretty sad shape. No title. No seat. Not road worthy. You could sink a fortune into it to get it moved and road worthy.
Or, it could be a great deal!
Wonder how you deal with the title issue? Is it even legal to sell it without having the title? Wonder who actually owns it?
The NJT has some issues, too, but it might be a good deal.
The question is, how much would it cost to transport the 4104 here so that I can strip it for parts, that is the question.
These buses were removed from service due to 9/11 since they felt they did not have enough security built in to them.
Huh? I'm unaware of any buses being removed from service due to (lack of) security features. But could be a good deal. NJT has often auctioned off buses with near new power trains. I have a 1967 ex NJT GM suburban that was complete rebuilt in 1990, placed in service for three months and then auctioned off.

The ugliest MCI 5 you ever saw is listed on CL for for sale in Minneapolis for 3999.00 One never knows what he is getting with a NJT transit bus they were built to NJT specs and he probably knows how much it's worth :o
NJT began selling off their MC-9's and Eagles through ABC bus well before 911 and replaced with the MCI commuters (which are now being replaced again). Nothing to do with security to the best of my knowledge. You could get the 9's for around 8 grand at that time, not a bad price for then. NJT: good example of the fleecing of the American taxpayer.
The NJT MC9 I have seen were single axle, looked like the MCI5 drive setup, no rest room, just seats. The ones I saw were based at Warwick NY.

That bus is just around the corner from me. Getting a title can be done with a bit of time and effort through ICBC.
