Title: Just purchased 1968 gmc conversion with new motor and tranny
Post by: Monster2791 on September 14, 2014, 03:50:20 PM
Unfortunately the wiring and air lines were never hooked up and we're not labeled. Anyone with some help on this would be much appreciated

Monster you came to the right place.
But in order to help us help you . You have to do a couple things.
Go to your profile and edit the signature line to show your first name and city/state your in.
That way we can direct you to the closest source of parts or assistance. (an you never know but maybe a local busnut near you will notice and offer to come assist)

Also need to know what model '68  GM you just bought.
If you post the serial # the GM guys on the board here will be all over it like a duck on a june bug an get you all sorts of info like who the first owners were an stuff like that!

I Feel your pain I bought a 1975 MCI that the PO but a 6v92 in and never hookup any of the wires. In fact when I got we had to but it back together. before I could drive it home. Drove it home with out any gages hook up when I stop to eat or just to stretch my legs had to go back to the rear and shut her down by hand. Still do And I still need some help to get it back together.

Good luck

Danr

It's a 1968 gmc 5305 fishbowl. Detroit 8v71n with an allison vs2-8. Also all the parts are there for an air throttle. Help with plumbing and wiring this thing would be a godsend.

NAME?? -

What is the VIN on your GM?  TDH5305-XXXX?

Keep your eye on eBay - shop manuals and parts books pop up frequently, now and then an operator's manual, too.  You'll find them invaluable as you putter around with this beast.

I'll second BK's comments about updating your Forum Profile so we can better help you.

FWIW & HTH. . .

Photos would be very good. I'm a mechanic so I'm sure I can figure out the electrical. It's mainly the trany lines and air lines I'm having trouble with. So some good photos would be a very good start. I have the shop manuals for the motor and I downloaded a manual for the transmission. Unfortunately there not much help with the hookups.
