Title: Gauges
Post by: mung on September 13, 2014, 11:41:53 AM
So apparently the auto parts stores don't sell real gauges anymore.  All they carry are the sunpro ones that run off of little air tubes or like the temp gauge that has the built in bulb at the end of a tube.  Nothing that has a sending unit and nothing that is more than a toy for rice burners to mount on their A pillar because they saw them on Fast and Furious.

I wonder why I even try to buy things from actual stores anymore instead of just ordering everything on Amazon.  The brick and mortar stores complain that they are losing business to online retailers, well it is because you don't carry anything real anymore and we have no choice but to order it online.

You want to buy local? Go to a good speed shop for good gauges

the real deal is at race car shops, circle track guys buy stuff that works and is cost effective (not cheap).  Street car speed shops often carry too much bling for my taste.

Title: Consider Your Heavy Truck Wrecking Yard
Post by: HB of CJ on September 13, 2014, 02:15:03 PM
Is you Bus Conversion 12vdc?  If soosss, then consider the regional, friendly, knowledgeable, non expensive heavy duty truck wrecking yard.  Ancient information, but years ago, we used to be able to pull all the gages, senders, wiring and whatnot we wanted or imagined off wrecked truck cab dash boards  that did not need them any more.  Consider some hand tools, knowledge, and a 6 gallon bucket(s) with a handle.  Pull all you want for $very cheap$ indeed.   Might work for you.  Just me.  HB of CJ (old coot)

Don't waste the money on the Equus gauges sold at O/R they are just China made junk their VDO line is fair but on the low end try E Gauges or Precision Speed in Phoenix both have online ordering

It is 12v.  It is a 4104 and I am in the middle of fixing wiring as well as going negative ground.  The gauges in there now say they are positive ground and are fairly old, so while I am fixing the wiring, I am changing the gauges out.
