Title: 4014 Speedometer
Post by: mung on September 10, 2014, 09:17:21 AM
Is there any particular reason that I would want to keep the after market wheel sensor driven speedometer over replacing everything back to the transmission cable driven one?  The instructions on the wheel driven one say that it should be powered on all of the time and that won't be happening.

Just use a pulse generator from the transmission you don't wont 30 ft of cable to deal with

I have several GPS units so that would work, but then what do I put in the speedo hole?

Look on the back of the blower ,for a cap on the cam in front.or a plate on the rear bell housing with a drive looks like where you could connect a speedometer

I have a mechanical tach drive off the back of my blower on my 8V-71. The 6-71 should have one also. I have an Isspro tach with engine hour that is powered by the synchronis generator of the blower tach drive. Then for speedo, run a GPS driven speedo. Good Luck, TomC

The only problem with the GPS speedos is that they don't work when in certain areas

Any suggestions on part numbers or links for a good combination of tachometer and pulse generator?  I do have a drive off of the back of the blower.
