Title: Working on the bus
Post by: Emcemv on September 06, 2014, 07:32:57 PM
I've spent most of the summer working on the bus and have not taken it anywhere!  You could say that this all should have been a weekend project but we all know how things go sometimes :o

Today I managed to get the fan drive all back together with the rebuilt shaft and new bearings, it runs so much smoother, before the belts were flapping so much they were hitting the lower rad hose, now that the shaft Is tight, everything runs nice and true.  I've included some pictures of my fan setup, I'm curious, I've been told that the radiator and fan setup is from a scenic on this combo, is that true? Scenic owners, does your setup look like this?

So I've accomplished fixing the cracked fuel fitting, replaced all the coolant hoses and rebuilt the fan drive system after finding that the shaft had spun in the bearing race and was worn down about an 1/8".

Now I can move on to replacing my water pressure accumulator tank, (Lowes for $59) one of my rear leveling valves, ($80 from Luke) and trying to find out why my tach has stopped working.

My wife really wants to go somewhere this year so we are planning a short trip to a beach campground in RI in October and also a local rally in October.

Bruce, I was a little loose with my "rally" term there, actually, it not a bus rally, it is a RV camping weekend Oct 24-26 at Nickerson state park in Chaplin CT.  I guess it is at Nickerson park family campground 860-455-0007.  The group "Constitution Cruisers" is putting it on. We are joining the group.  I don't think you have to be a member to go.  Usually, we are the only bus there so don't expect a big bus meet.....

There is also a weekend in Sept in Mystic CT that we might go to but I'm still working on the bus so that one is up in the air.

Email me if you want details on these, it would be good to see another bus and meet you guys!!!

LVMC - thanks for the encouragement!!

Bruce

Hey Bruce,

What's the info on the Mystic weekend?  I'd like to get out a couple more times before it's too cold.

Thanks,

Mark

Clifford -

Bruce has one of the MC-7 Combo cars, the ones that 'Hound stuffed Scenic rear end components in for Package Express duty.  About 100 of them were built.

All the rest of the MC-7s have the stock dual radiator set-up.

But you're right - that single BIG radiator works very, very well.

FWIW & HTH. .

;)

Nice job, Bruce.  I looked at your bus quite a lot at Blytheville and was really impressed with it. One of my favs at the show.  Good to see you are bringing her back up to snuff.  Was a pleasure chatting with Nancy on the way to Memphis also.
