Title: Potential Goodie Gold Mine!
Post by: RJ on September 02, 2014, 12:02:07 AM
Saw this on CL tonight, and thought a few of you on the East Coast might be interested.  A bus conversion company outside Charlotte, NC, is closing.  They're having a big sale later this month, which means there might be some real treasures in among all the nuts & bolts.  Here's the link to the CL ad:

FWIW & HTH. . .

I called and asked about rooftop AC units and based on the information he gave me, they don't seem to be that great of a deal.  13,500 BTU Dometic for $875.  He said it had a heat strip, but that still doesn't seem to be that good of a deal.  If they are the Penguin II (looks from the picture to be what they are).  I can get them locally for $1000.  But I can also get an Atwood locally for around $650.

Did you get the name of the person you talked to?  (I'm in Charlotte right now but I don't think I need anything.)

Nice enough guy, but if you are closing down a store, usually you have deep discounts.

Well I have a new Penguin 11 that I paid over 900 bucks my offer on a new Penguin 11 would be a 100 bucks if I lived in a mild climate the biggest piece of crap to hit the market in years IMO

The way the upper unit is design for non ducted unit the thing is so noise one cannot hear the tv and it is only a 2 speed fan my old Penguin was 10 times the unit and it wasn't great I am seriously thinking about replacing it with a Atwood

I have really old Colemans on there now and think I should change them to something a little newer.
