Talks are open again only not trading! I made him an offer a very low offer knowing he wouldn't take it just to see what he will take and I got this email today!
Things are still looking up!
Ace,
Obviously I would not take that offer but I know how this works and I am
not so sure we are too far apart to work this deal out. I will put some
thought into it the next couple days and throw you a counter.
Thanks, Bob
So, you're thinking of buying the truck outright rather than trading the bus for it?
Hmmm... I've been talking to Louis from NH about helping him get his bus from FL to his home. I had offered to drive down and drive it up to NH for him.
I'd like to bring the bikes and ride them home from NH but Teri is not really up or that much punishment. I have a little trailer in AL that I used to haul
them down last month when I took my friends bus to him, but I have no way to get the trailer from AL to FL, so would probably have to bring the pickup.
So... if you buy this truck and need someone to deliver it, we could probably work something out. If I remember correctly, that truck has a garage in back.
I could bring the bikes, and pick up my trailer in AL and then help Louis get his MC5 home.
Just a thought... :)
Gumpy that could possibly work but as you see, the deal discussion is just beginning! If it were to happen, I'd like to acquire it before winter.
I've already wasted a good spring and summer waiting for this guy with excuse after excuse and many plans including time off from work etc have been broken so only time will tell.
Your plans to pick up the bus down here will most likely happen before out deal finalizes!

Ace, why are you posting private emails on the forum? Are you disclosing to seller/buyer that you are having community forum view your transaction?
I seen your previous thread. Sell your bus, buy a truck conversion.
The other option is to begin your personal blog. There you can detail the nitty gritty.
It's not a private email! It's mine to do what I want and besides, NOTHINGS PRIVATE in this day and age! It's those that hide things or try to are the ones they go after!
One more reason I want away from bussing!
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Well, keep the idea in mind as your deal progresses and keep me informed if it's something you might be interested in. Might
save both of us some time and money if it were to work out for each of us.
I had looked at the end of Aug to help with the MC5, but that's not looking likely as I'm having difficulties
finishing some things I have to do for some commitments I have in Sept and Oct. It's likely that earliest I will be able to so anything like that would
be middle of Oct, and while that would probably be fine going south to FL, it might pose problems going north to NH and then riding the bikes back
to MN. Hard to predict this far in advance, though.
On the other hand, it's supposed to be beautiful in the northeast at that time of year and we've done cold weather riding before.
Will do!

Hope it turns out the way you want it, Ace. Not that it really matters to your purchasing process but what level of conversion is the truck in now? Buying something that has had a lot of the basic work done (well) sounds like a very good thing. Good luck!
It's about 75% done minus a/c and plumbing and of course personal touches and little fixes!

If the deal means that you trade your bus, you won't be without "big wheels" for too long! And the "personal touches" are among the most important to me.
Not gonna trade at all! I'm trying to buy the truck outright cash deal

Might have to take time and go look it over in person!
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
If you go there in person the seller is probably going to lower the price by $2,000 if you are willing to walk away. He would be silly to lose a sale over $2,000. On the other hand, he might think you are really interested if you traveled all the way from Florida and not want to drop the price.
And u might see it and wonder why you went... :-\
Very true!

My banker wants to see a copy of the title! I've graciously asked the seller for a copy and after 4 days, still nothing! I reminded him after missing the first day and his reply was he forgot. I reminded him again after 3 days and his reply was his accountant had the title and was waiting for him!
I've never had a harder time trying to spend money, big money, on anything I was buying in my entire life!
I know of I was selling something especially something big, I'd be bending over and jumping thru hoops to satisfy a potential buyer!

Tell him to stick his truck where the sun don't shine!
Better yet, tell him you're putting the deal on hold while you check out another truck in (you pick a state, it doesn't really matter).
The scare tactics won't work as he's stated many times that he doesn't care if he sells it or not!
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Boy you must either want the truck or have the patience of a saint. This deal has drug on for a long time. You have to wonder why the guy isn't moving on the deal. My guess is he doesn't really want to sell or maybe the truck doesn't exist. You have to consider that in this day of internet scams. It may cost you a trip to lay a set of eyeballs on the truck. I hope this works out for you though I hate to see you leave the bus community. Good luck with the deal. I hope I'm not still hearing about the guy still dragging his feet next summer.

That's exactly the point I have reached here, too. Whether he has the truck or not, this "seller" is sure gaming along an overly anxious buyer.

Or live with it a couple years.
Still no luck on title! Go figure! Been looking at another newer truck with similar lay out but I find out today that it's been sitting two years and won't start!
Anyone familiar with
n14 cummins with auto shift?
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
LOL I would prefer the series 60 the N14's I owned had a steady diet of 3 grand a set injectors how many miles on the engine if around 600k with no records I wouldn't touch it JMO it has to electronic with the Eaton find out if it a Celect or Celect +
It's electronic and has 300k miles which is low for a 2000 model. The injectors were already changed along with new batteries on coach and chassis.
It's been sitting for almost two years and supposedly, this spring they tried to start it and no go. Runs on starting fluid but not fuel. It's believed to be an electronic issue but they don't have the time to mess with it!

Hi Ace, make sure when you do get a different truck you send a certified letter resending your offer, lvmci...
Might also be old pictures when it looked good?
I feel for ya Ace, but this guy is definitely playing you. he may be even reading it all right here?
Dave
The ECM is a problem with some N14 Ace it could have just went dead or rats ate the wiring
Okay things are looking promising on this one! Possibly a very simple fix for the starting issue! Will know later this week and also the pictures he sent me are nothing less than awesome!
Susan loves everything about it and it's completely done with nothing to fix or find to make it useable!
One thing that I MIGHT have to bargain with is new rubber due to the rear tires have studs in them! Won't be needing them in a Florida!
The seller communicates very well, lots better than the last one, which by the way, we think he's not producing the title because possibly it's tied up in a loan or something since he recently purchased a big car dirt race track. Who knows but after finding the recent find, I've all but forgotten the other one!
Really hoping this one works out!

Whats your Ken Worth. Yep now thats a nice Truck. Sweet
That's nice looking. Does it have the rear garage, also?
Do you have photos of the inside?
On the studs: I've never heard of studded truck tires, but maybe. Assuming that's correct, you might be able to remove them from the tire with a pair of side cutters.
I used to install studs in car tires, and sometimes we'd have to remove them. Either end cutters or side cutters work well for gripping and pulling them out. Tedious,
but if it saves you several hundred dollars, it would be worth it.
Yes it almost identical with a garage only slightly larger. It still has the BR over the garage and the garage opens on the rear where the other opened on the side.
He told me the studs could be removed with a little effort and time.

Studs usually indicate usage in snow and salt. Carefully inspect under carriage for rust issues. The salt they use up here is much more corrosive than the old stuff. Look up rust jacking. Looks decent; does look like a typical rv interior though. BTW, why are you getting this to replace your other one? From previous posts over the years, your Prevost looks pretty nice from pictures I've seen here. I would think this type wouldn't hold a candle to what you currently have. Not trying to be insulting, just curious.
That's not a home built...whose the manufacturer of the rig home portion ?
Nope, definitely not a home conversion! Jason Hawk built it from the ground up, everything including triple frame when he did the stretch.

Saw one of his units in Eureka Ca first of August, the outside siding/walls I don't really like but the overall unit was impressive. How confident are you that the shell won't start falling apart as does so many others with that kind of construction?
Enlighten me on the construction. These truck conversions are new to me.
All the ones I've seen have framework built like a bus!
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
At least on mine, the framing is 1.5" square steel tubing with 1/8" walls welded on 16" centers. Then the .060 aluminum sheet is double sided taped to the steel studs with 3M tape. This double sided tape is so strong, 3M suggests panel removal with an air chisel.
I then had 3" x 1" apitong slats installed lengthwise, then spray foamed for 2.25" of foam. The 32ft box weighed 10,000lbs. My chassis is 18,000lbs. So the truck was 28,000lbs empty when I started. Haven't weighed it since. I pitty the person that ever runs into me. Good Luck, TomC
Yep
Well you can delete that Yep, I was responding to a IM on my cell. fingers must be drunk ;D
Ace the one I saw had his side doors for water and power cords open, they just looked like a typical sticks and staple RV. I shouldn't judge so quickly by the little I saw, just didn't look like any bus type quality that I am used to.
I have semi's and understand totally why you are going in that direction for the reasons you have stated.
Good luck on your purchase, I know you are the type to do your homework.
Yea I've studied a bunch of pro converters and although they do things somewhat different from each other they are built rather stout.
There was one I saw at the Tampa RV super show that was like you described. Cheap and flimsy but it wasn't on a HDT chassis. More of a MDT or medium duty truck!
We both are really excited to find this particular one at a price that is nowhere near what others are going for AND the good thing for us is that it doesn't have a slide which is hurting the sale of it because most people want a slide. We don't!
I'm sure it's not perfect but even the new ones aren't! We can do what fixes if any it needs and both Susan and I are supporting each other on this and we agreed that IF we like it like we think we will THEN we can sell the bus but not until!

You might want to call JD and talk to him. You might be surprised at what a used Kingsley would run you. Considering what you posted regarding prices and
the one you are looking at, I think you might be surprised at what's available in your price range.
On the other hand, I could be wrong, but it would certainly only cost you a phone call and a little time to find out.

Ace I figured out why I haven't been overly excited about most truck conversions, the majority of the ones I have seen are WHITE, they look more like a utility vehicle to me.
I saw a beautiful truck conversion up near the Shasty damn area in a rest stop that had a very nice paint job, now that totally changed the way I look at them now.
Good luck again on your future purchase.
If you do any kind of search on truck conversions, you will see some as good if not better than buses! This particular one I'm looking is white but IF I so choose, the white will be a good canvas for almost anything custom I may want to add but one reason my bus is a solid color without being custom is, all those fancy stripes and swirls not only cost money, they attract attention from all types! :)

After being out of town for a week, Jason returned to find out I was still interested in the truck due to my bank being set to move forward and he moved forward on trying to find the starting issue.
After him changing out the Ecm, it started right up. Using a borrowed ECM from his own identical truck, he still needs to find a good ECM!
Anyone have or know of a good take out ECM for a 2000 year N14 Cummings select red top?
The part number is 3408300
I'm not responsible for replacing it, only trying to help him find a deal on one.
Looks like late Oct for our trip there and hoping to maybe stop in Hoboken for the bus nut rally on the return trip home IF we do the deal on the truck!
Thanks
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
It doesn't need to be from a N14 the L10 and M11 are the same around 500 bucks for the standard programing model any place is going to need the serial number from the engine not just the ECM number fwiw
Ok good to know, thanks
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Davenport told me years ago a rebuilt stater from the average rebuilder will kill the ECM on those engines they leave some part out forgot what but always buy a stater from Cummins
You should be good to go with new injectors and a new ECM those are the problem areas with the N14 along with breaking a head bolt every now and then
Jason told me tonight that he's already found a replacement ECM about 20 miles from him and will have it in tomorrow!
Motor started out rated at 460 hp but it was bumped up to 500 hp, so unless the replacement has been worked on I guess it's back to 460 which is probably ok especially for fuel mileage!
I will update when I know more.
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Ace, he's right about the starter. If I recall correctly, the ones for those engines have a circuit in them that varies the voltage to the ECM. Be careful because if the starter on it now killed the old ECM, it will kill the new one too.
Is that Stator or starter?

I think it's the loose nut behind the steering wheel!
It's been over 3 weeks now and I still haven't heard back from the original truck owner regarding his lost title. SMH
I can honestly say, I threw everything I possibly could throw at him including our bus, fuel to bring it to me and back for him plus added cash to spend on his trip to and from. I offered to meet him half way, then offered me to just come get it and that's when the title issue came up! I'm thinking he either never wanted to sell it nor trade it OR he has it tied up in a loan and can't sell or trade it.
Either way, I kept him hanging and will continue to do so until I finalize the purchase of another truck.

That's a good possibility. He may have been trying to get out of it before the bank took it but they may have beaten him to it.
That could be! He did tell me he recently purchased a big car dirt race track and I thought it was strange that he could only do the deal in Sept/Oct and when the time came, he and his accountant couldn't find the title!
